POST PRODUCTIONHow new media technologies helped me in

the construction stage.

Adobe premier pro■ Adobe premier pro has been a good piece of new technology to use

for editing my video. It has many functions which have enhanced and improved the quality overall.

■ The cutting tool and zoom function made it easy to crop clips precisely where they need to be cut, allowing us to make sure the video cut exactly in time to the beat of the song.

■ The colour wheel allowed us to change the colour of the video to a sepia type tone, fitting with the ‘indie’ theme of out video as this is a common effect for photos and videos in this genre.

■ The black and white effect allowed us to easily distinguish the narrative element of our video with the performance element, helping the video to flow as a whole. It also meant that there was variety in the colours on screen.

■ For part of our performance clips, we overlapped two of the same video, making one more transparent than the other so that both parts of the chorus (which overlapped) could be seen at the same time.

Photoshop- Magazine ad ■ Photoshop was the main form of software I used

to create my magazine advert. Although it was difficult to get to grips with, overall it was a useful piece of software which enhanced the quality of my work.

■ The erase tool allowed me to edit out part of a tree which allowed space to fit the album’s name and artists name. This makes the image look more balanced and more like a magazine ad should with no objects blocking text.

■ It also allowed me to enhance certain colours, making the image more eye catching and vibrant, making it attractive to audiences.

■ I used a selection of different fonts and used them on both my digipak and magazine ad so that they would be similar and audiences would recognise the two as corrosponding marketing products.

Photoshop- Digipak (Front and back cover)■ For my front cover, I took the photo of the artist

looking sideways and cut it out so that it wasn’t attached to a background. I then overlapped this with the original image and reversed it to create the mirrored effect.

■ I also put this in black and white so that it tied in with the inside slide and kept a common theme within the digipak.

■ Same as with my magazine advert, I used similar fonts so that it becomes recognisable as a piece of advertisement for Saint Raymond (the artist).

■ For the back cover, I again used the erase tool to edit out a line of trees and also some of the ducks in the water. This meant that the photo had room to fit the list of the tracks on and looks professional and natural (not obviously edited out).

Photoshop- Digipak inside pages■ For this inside page I cut out the outline of his face

and reversed the picture whilst also making it black and white. I then added a gradient back ground from dark grey to white to fit with the black and white theme. This links to the front cover and shows how the digipak works as a whole with relating images.

■ For this image, I cropped it so that the focus of the picture was on his face and the leaves, rather than the background, I also enhanced the colours to make them stand out and make the image eye-catching. This picture is also very similar to the final inside page as I used the same tools to edit it and it clearly shows that they link and are part of the same digipak.

How did this help?■ The software allowed me to achieve all of the things noted in the

previous slides which increased my knowledge of how to use Photoshop and photo editing in general.

■ By using Photoshop I created a magazine advert and digipak which I am proud of and I believes looks professional, adopting conventions of each of the texts.

■ The tools on the software also meant that I could create them so they linked to one another which is effective for presenting them as merchandising products linking to the same album and artist.

■ By using both premier pro and Photoshop, I feel that my work is similar to real texts in terms of the conventions I've used as well as the quality of it and effectiveness for interesting audiences.

■ All of this as well increased my knowledge of how to use these techologies and will help me in any future projects as mu skill set has developed and increased.
