POST Instructor Development Institute (IDI)
• Complete a 40-hour POST Basic/AICC Instructor
Certification Course
• Validation of competencies in the classroom
• Complete the 24-hour Intermediate Instructional Skills or Problem-Based Learning Course
• Complete the 8-hour Presentation Skills Course
• Complete the 16-hour Instructional Technology Course
• Complete the 8-hour Critical Thinking Skills Course
• Complete the 40-hour Advanced Instructor Development Core Course
with a 16-hour Teach Back session (56-hrs total)
• Complete the 24-hour Leadership, Coaching and
Mentoring Course
• Develop their knowledge, skills and abilities in a
selected content area that parallels their module
• Be mentored by a Master Instructor for a minimum of 8-hours
• Complete the Master Instructor Certification Course (MICC); designing,
developing and delivering a minimum of a 24-hour course that meets a demonstrated and POST approved training need
• The student will be required to submit monthly progress reports to their assigned
team facilitator as well as a designated management level person in their agency.
• The MICC meets 5 times over a period of 10 months.
• The candidate’s Total Training Package (TTP) will
be formally evaluated by a panel prior to course delivery
• AICC instructors required to complete a triennial re-certification• An instructor may petition to be granted all or a portion of Level 2 or 3 as an equivalency (equivalency based on a review
of training, education and/or experience)
