• You are walking along the street. You catch sight of a neighbor of yours coming in the other direction.

• As you and the neighbor pass, you smile and say: “Nice day!”.

• Your neighbor smiles back and replies: “ Yes, it is”.

• A positive stroke is one

which the receiver

experiences as pleasant.

• In the example, you and

your neighbor

exchanged positive

strokes, both verbal and

non – verbal.
