What Does the BCHS Handbook State about Cheating?

Academic Dishonesty (Cheating) • Cheating can be defined in many ways. The following list represents forms of

cheating that will be dealt with: • Taking information of any form into a test situation for the purpose of

responding to test items or for the purpose of assisting others in responding to test items.

• Plagiarism.• Copying an assignment, including homework, notebooks, book reports, or other

work which will be assigned a grade. • After taking a test, providing information to an individual who has yet to take a

test over the same material. • Talking during test situations, or exchange of information during a test situation. • When substantial proof has been obtained that a student or group of students

has been involved in cheating, the student(s) will receive a zero on the assignment or test, the parents will be contacted, and the student will be referred to the Assistant Principal.

• Repeating offenses of cheating through grades 9-12 will move the student up the discipline ladder with increasing consequences (see the discipline ladder).
