Scope of Position: Supervises, directs and coordinates activities of production workers and team leads located within his/her department by performing the following duties. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Responsible for attaining the safety, quality, productivity, cost and schedule goals for the shift with a daily report out. Manages the shift manpower needs including job assignments, vacation scheduling, overtime planning and other absence coverage. Maintains daily time and attendance system. Aggressively drives continuous improvement projects (Level 3), in coordination with the site Level 3 Manager focused on 5S, TPM and process capability / quality improvement. Facilitate KAIZEN’s as needed. Facilitates the shift team meetings fostering an environment of active employee involvement and problem solving. Takes initiative to champion issues which negatively impact performance. Communicates and coordinate with the incoming and outgoing shift supervisors to ensure all critical information is passed on. Develop all team members and maintain the shift training matrix to ensure depth and cross trained employees for flexibility. Monitors the process by checking cut rates, coolant, feed rates, cycle times and other related functions associated with production of the product. Resolves problems as needed. Complete annual performance reviews. Experience and Education: High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and 5 years manufacturing supervision experience is required. An undergraduate degree in business or a related technical field, with 5 years’ manufacturing supervision experience is preferred.
