Portugalete is in the North of Spain, in the Basque Country

It’s near the sea at the Ibaizabal River mouth.

Portugalete’s flag is yellow with a black cross.

There is a sailing boat in the coat of arms.

This is the Town Hall in the Solar Square.

This is the Salazar Tower. It was a defensive tower. One could control the sea and the roads from there.

This is the old town. There are narrow streets.

This is the Basilica of Holy Mary.

This is the old train station. Nowadays is the tourist office.

This is the Bizkaia Bridge. It’s a hanging bridge. It’s a Unesco World Heritage Monument.

It links the two sides of the river allowing the boats to go by.

The Industry museum of Portugalete. It shows the importance ofthe iron industry in the history of the region.

Portugalete is on the coastal Route to Santiago de Compostela.
