colour on location is a surface, colour and styling consultancy that creates classic, contemporary and individual colour schemes, and interior designs, to suit a broad range of clients from the Blue Mountains, Sydney, interstate and overseas.
colour on location is my ‘brain-child’. Established in 2010, its past projects have included surface and colour design for retail spaces, a medical facility, a church, family homes, heritage houses, and multi-level new constructions – as well as providing simple solutions to small but significant questions like: “what cushion?”, “which curtains?”, and “where will we put the artwork?”.
Whatever the project, colour on location is passionate about making private and public spaces adaptable, individual and beautiful.
This portfolio is an introduction to me, Rachel Morse, and my consultancies colour on location and its predecessor Earthly Goods (soft furnishings and products), covering the period of 2006-2013.

hobart nephrology library – commercial – newtown tasThe medical staff at this location required colours for a library and study area for the Renal/Kidney Dialysis Unit. I selected colours that were contemplative with a warm accent.
vitesse court – residential – tranmere tasThe owners of this coastal residence desired colours that reflected the Australian coast. Surrounding homes were using earth browns and greys, however the client wanted something different.
I chose colours for the interior and exterior of this residence, some of which included: flooring, carpet, walls, ceilings, cornices, mouldings, feature walls, kitchen benchtop, cabinetry and kickboards, exterior walls and doors, and timber stain.
lawson view parade – residential – wentworth falls nswHaving purchased a home with a blue-grey colour scheme, our client longed for a warmer palette. Along with this, the client was re-upholstering several pieces of furniture and purchased my custom-designed Earthly Goods cushions.

client showcasecicero boutique – commercial – leura nswThis retail business was being updated and relocated after nine years of operation. The style board I created combined contemporary colour trends with classic style. The client aimed to take my colour and fabric selections, surfaces and accessories and implement them in her new fashion studio.
zuri eco emporium – commercial – leura nswColours were selected for this project based on the clients preference for deep plum for this retail outlet’s back feature wall. The main walls were styled in a neutral with a hint of mauve, and other accent colours were used to complement the core palette and leadlight windows.

eurabaeuraba paper company – public relations – boggabilla nswIndigenous paper-making enterprise, Euraba, is run by Aboriginal women. Euraba makes their own paper using recycled papers and fabrics, and colour that results in the paper comes from the existing fabric dyes. As well, Euraba artwork products – cards, writing sets and notebooks, to name a few – are their own.
Not long after the official apology was made to the stolen generation, Euraba paper company appeared in Qantas Magazine, one of the editorial assignments I was commissioned to work on. An Australian wine company saw their artwork in the magazine and contacted Euraba requesting use of the artwork for their wine label.

sophie quilt – commercial – blackheath nswThe sophie quilt was created for retailer, Chateau La Belle. It combined preloved and new fabrics, linen and soft blues, perfect for the decor and style of this iconic French-Australian styled, and much adored, retail outlet.
laura handbag – product design – glebe nswMy client purchased some retro fabric that she wanted made into a clasp handbag. The fabric was perfect for the task, the client delighted.
kitchen dresser – furniture design – leura nswMy client desired an elegant and timeless piece for their living room, enhancing their existing scheme. I designed the piece and it was built by a professional cabinet-maker, and jointly painted by myself and the cabinet-maker in white, grey, soft blue and pink.
