RESEARCH

There are a high number of children in Ireland being diagnosed with some sort of learning disability. It is estimat-ed that 1 in 4 children have a learning disability.

There is a lack of Special Needs Assis-tance in Ireland. Approximately 6,550 SNA’s to help children with learnig disabilities. Due to lack of SNA’s children with learning disabilities do not get the attention they need.

There is a lack of com-munication between parent, teacher, occupa-tional therapist etc.

In the modern market there is a higher demand for Ubiquitous comput-ing. There is a greater need and want for tech-nology to becoming more readily available to a user. Wearable technolo-gy is now seen as a fash-ionable thing to own.

The Antelope Watch is an exciting way to help children with autism develop their fine and gross motor skills and organisational skills. Through the inter-active interface of the watch, kids can view tasks that have been set out by parent, guardian, teacher etc and complete such task. A website available to parents, teachers, occupational therapists etc, can set these tasks and goals for the child to complete. Once the task is complete the guardian can reward them accordingly based on their goals.

The watch can be personalised based on the childs preference, this person-alisation includes the material and colour of the watch.

The Cosaint Trolley is a portable unit that holds Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to be used in hospitals and other healthcare environments. The unit

promotes compliance with the Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) infection and control practices that help reduce the spread of Hospital Acquired

Infections. The ergonomically designed PPE dispensing system allows for PPE products to be readily accessible and encourages hand sanitising and donning of

PPE.

The unit was created to assist medical staff as they attend their patients without the need to go to various locations throughout the hospital where PPEs are stored.

The Cosaint Trolley holds examining glove dispensers, protective apron dispensers, smaller drawers for holding things such as masks, goggles, shoe coverings, head

covers. The unit has capacity to hold waste bins, a disinfectant hand gel dispenser and an area where nurses can make notes etc.

Despite Progress, Ongoing Efforts Needed to Combat Infections Impacting Hospital Patients’.
