krOOk & tjder2013 - 2014
An architecture internship where I took part of several projects in al l stages. This gave me a good feel at how an architecture f irm works and I learned a lot .
Acryl ic painting has been a way for me to relax and reset my focus. Also a good way on earning some extra money.
A good way to exercise and helps me feel happy and enegyetic .
rdA Arkitekter2014 -
A small architecture f irm that I help with modell ing of small projects when they are in need.
My name is Phil ip Hedberg and I have a Bachelor in architecture and engineering, a education that have been focusing on architectural qual it ies combined with the understanding of how forces f low threw a structure. Now I recently f inished with my Thesis in architecture. My thesis was about a bath that uses the change of water level as a architectural feature to create a architecture that changes from day to day.

You are laying in bed, getting indications of the weather and t ime only from indirect l ight.
You feel the temperature, hear the rain, smell the ocean. Cracks between structure and rock gives you hints off your surrounding but not a clear picture.
Now you have a framed picture of the last peace of land before the open sea.The contrast from the closed and directed space enhance the experience.
Movement over site.
Respecting the hill and creating possibility of movements behind.
A piazza that leaks out.
Volume that communicates with the existing auditorium entrance.
A volume that is aliened dont close the piazza.
Respecting the hill and letting the hill flow in to the rooftop.
Adding the auditorium roof behind the piazza closes it even more.
By letting the volume go past and with help of the trees the piazza becomes enclosed.
A long and elegant volume redefines an empty square into an active piazza, where Chalmers speaks to the city. When all lights are off, there is always a light that invites all people to share knowledge in a relaxed environment. The volume communicates with the hill in a gracious way, leaving its essence
intact. Carefully Contextualised, the building enhances the Chalmers spirit by using existing architectural qualities, it smoothly relates with the surrounding. Its simple volumes and common building materials allows usable spaces and high quality architecture.

housing inventionsWhat is a sustainable way to
think about housing?
Apartment 1 (134 m2)A two story apartment in the center core of the building. The dark core contains bathrooms storage and comuinication. Surrounding bathrooms are comunication with two clear sightlines on both levels so you can see two facades at the same time. The chaft provides the center with some light.
Apartment 2 (35 m2)A one room apartment for students.
Apartment 3 (74 m2)A three room apartment with three facades with comunication in the darc core with storage but with clear sightlines to two facades that will creat a effectfull room.
Social Sustainability.Wavrinskys plats is a good location for business that are in close contact with the University and Chalmers. There for have I designed a building structure for both offices and housing. The thought is that in the beginning 50% of the buildings area is housing and the rest is office space. The commercial forces are going to finance some of the building making it cheaper for the residences. Slowly it will transform to just housing. The bottom floor is mainly a bicycle storage/workshop that can be transformed in to an event room equipped with a small kitchen. The large room is to motivate people and make it easy to use the bicycle.
Ecological sustainabilityThe building has thick walls to be as energy efficient as possible and the roof is equipped with two vertical wind turbines that are located on the stairwell structure that is free standing from the rest of the
structure to vibrate the rest of the structure. The reason for wind is that we live in a climate that is dark a big part of the year but its always wind. The turbines shall be designed with close relationship with the university with possibility of changes and further research in wind turbines and housing to create an as self-efficient house as possible. The roof is also equipped with a greenhouse for planting of food also to get as self-efficient as possible. The exit air from the building is going in to the greenhouse to prolong the season of growing.
The city contextThe building is designed to connect to the houses surrounding it especially the ones along Guldhedsgatan. With the universitys brick houses, the sahlgrenskas and Chalmers brick houses with copper roofing and details.
Residents own dwellingThe building is designed with 40% (out of the total amount of apartments) one room apartments 40% three room apartments and 20% with five room apartment. A wide range of apartments are essential to create an integrated society.

Sun study

from drawing to real ity.
Urban CaveI wanted to create a high-rise that thought about the human scale and let people meet in a natural way. With help of the organic forms in a cave I created rooms where people can meet and get a visual connection with each other. The great changes in direction and volume of the room will catch peoples curiosity and the will guide them through the high-rise.

SITEAsphalt is dominating the urban environment, concealing a enchanted place beneath.
SocIal SpacEWe make room for various activities on the site for all the seasons.
SplIT IN TWoTo face all directions the site splits in two parts, a north side and a south side.
brEak up ThE grouNdBy breaking and lifting up the ground the opera gets exposed, creating a sloping roof that can be used for various activities.
publIc aNd prIvaTECreating one public roof accessible for everyone and one private roof accessible to the opera visitors during breaks.
NoISE rEducTIoNTo reduce the street noise and the vibrations on the roof a rubberized asphalt is applied on both the street and the roof.
rubbErIzEd aSphalTThe rubberized asphalt reduces tire and engine noise with 50-75%, resulting in a lower noise level for the entire site.
ENTEr ThE magIcTo enter the enchanted place of opera you have to go below the urban asphalt.
