There is a large amount of information of di�erent layers on the school website. The information on events, faculty and research is basically all long articles, resulting in a crowded layout. Based on the school web-site’s information feature and functional objective, I set two goals for my design. The �rst is to simplify the infor-mation layer in order to give the readers a quicker access to their target information. The second is to combine the graph and color so as to show the contem-porary Chinese university’s modernization and scientif-ic sense as well as the School of Media and Design’s artistic atmosphere.

BACKGROUD

It is a simplified design. The main topics are placed in the top right of the page in vertical arrangement so that readers are able to find the needed information directly.

For the English fonts, sans-serif font is adopted in that it has strong sense of science and modernization in the hope of presenting school’s move-with-the-time international vision.

I use dark grey to emphasize the input box so that it can be distin-guished from the other part of this website.

The background uses the Chinese Calligraphy brushes to create a traditional artistic atmosphere.

With a combination of graph and text, the grey icon makes the mod-ules inconspicuous.

The first design is composed of circle, highlighting the

comparison of line and surface and creating overall calmness.

IDEA

LSDESIGN IS A LANGUAGE, LIKE ENGLISH.( )

Though the image made up by circle and

triangle is very like the character “可”, the sharp corner is un�t

for logo.

The combination of square, line and surface gives strong scienti�c

sense, but inappropriate for food logo.

Di�erent graphs and curves make the

logo too complicat-ed, not convenient

for memory.

The �fth design is made up of circle, line and surface, empha-

sizing the gradual change of line weight

and giving overall interest.

The chosen color is out of natural food materials to show the product’s natural and healthy brand feature. Orange and green bring freshness and liveliness, which better meets the young consum-ers’ needs.

As an important part of the breakfast cereal series, the slimming series are

color of which should be lighter and softer.

PackageDesign

Around the branding and packaging design of herbal cosmetics, I choose the hand-painted herb as the main element pattern, then abstract it as the brand logo and apply it into other aspects, which is a very traditional design pattern. Before designing, I made a lot of researches on popular herbal cosmetics brands including some well-known international brands. By summarizing the pattern of their logos, colors and packages, I �nally decide to adopt a soft and modern theme for my brand to di�erentiate Chinese style of local brands from the illustration style of Europe and America.

1 Clear Theme: Each poster invariably has speci�c contents and themes, which requires the graphic language to follow the theme without expressing aimlessly and freely. An appropriate point should be adopt-ed on the basis of rational analysis and then help to express the thoughts innovatively through unique visual elements. 2 Strong Visual Impact: Advertising posters are generally placed outdoors. The e�ect of advertising is closely related to the work’s attraction to viewers. A work with strong visual impact will arrest the steps of people and make them patiently show concern for the contents expressed in it so that the viewers are deeply impressed and frequently reminded.

3 Rich Cultural Implication: An excellent poster has to express its theme and contents successfully as well as certain cultural implication. Only in that way can it produce an emotional and spiritual communication with the viewers, a higher level to be expected.

The amount of moisture on Earth has not changed. The water the dinosaurs drank millions of years ago is the same water that falls as rain today. But will there be enough for a more crowded world?

Theme: Water is Life

Water gives birth to every great ancient civilization and also the origin of life. I used the traditional pattern of Chinese culture to symbolize the image that water waves lifted the glory of life with sunrise. It could expects to create a layout with both classical elegance and geometrical balance.

For the same theme, the image above is an attempt to explore the inte-grated creation of Chinese characters and strokes and English liters. The work is an experimental practice so far. If allowed, I would further research in this �eld.

Content: Advertisement on Female Mobile Phone

Theme: Changing Fashion

Challenge: The women-oriented mobile phone is mostly di�erent from common mobile in its softer shape, richer color and built-in applications which can meet women’s needs. I express that in a conceptual way with changing color and graphs to show the product’s concept. The hand-painted illus-tration creates a relaxed e�ect, helping to di�erentiate from other mobile phones.

Content: Advertisement on Nescaf

Theme: Live Out Your Audacity

Live Out Your Audacity is the theme of the annual advertisement of Nesca-fe, conveying the idea of pursuing freedom and actual self, whose consum-ers are mainly students, o�ce workers etc. Therefore, my work is aimed to express getting rid of shackles and releasing pressure. I hope to adopt a more exaggerated way, like contrast of black and red, to produce a simple but full-of-tension advertisement.

As an emerging inexpensive canvas shoes brand, Baoda’s consumers are mainly teen-agers. To di�erentiate from other brands, it should highlight that it is unique and interesting. The poster is created in a young, vibrant and street gra�ti style to convey the brand’s image and concept to consumers.

Theme: Canvas Shoes

The materials and production process of canvas shoes are very traditional. Therefore, in brand’s repackaging and repositioning, a use of the retro fash-ion can better attract consumers’ eyes. In this poster, the details of retro color, traditional materials and the abstract elements can show the feature of this series and build an impressive brand image in consumers’ mind.

Content: Channel Dressy Poster

Theme: The New City, the Young’s Fashion

Before, fashion in people’s mind is all about the unreachable catwalk shows during the big four fashion weeks. Nowadays, fashion is around every one. For the young, fashion is their pursuit of quality life, a way to highlight their personality and �nd the actual self. Young people who are after fashion are Channel Dressy’s targeted audience. By collecting the latest fashion information and trend, Channel Dressy encourages every one that loves beauty to �nd his own fashion secret. At the same time, it is aimed to advocate healthy fashion philosophy which stays close to life—fashion is not blind money worship or luxury pursuit, but a tool for presenting oneself. The pursuit of beauty among students, white-collars and housewives stays almost the same.

Content: Channel Dressy Poster

Theme: Fashionable Life

In spite of the same advertisements of Channel Dressy, this series of posters are more conceptualized. To let more people keep an eye on fashion and buy pay channel programs starts with changing their life styles and concepts. As the speeding life pace and increasing work pressure, to live a wonderful life instead of a boring one requires changing life attitudes and discovering beauty. The details, like changing the hairstyle, dressing style, buying a new accessory or going to a new place, are helpful to change the life condition and relax oneself so that life can be fully enjoyed. Since geometry is a universal language, this series of posters adopt simple graphical expressions, around the theme of discovery, enjoyment and change, appealing for a change on people’s life style and building a new image of city life.

四十年的故事—林旭东、陈丹青、韩辛画展 时间、友谊、艺术,是本次展览的主题。四十年来,三位老朋友的故事充满戏剧性的起伏与变化:林旭东由油画转向版画,继而转向电影,成为知名的纪录电影研究者与推动者;

陈丹青以油画《西藏组画》蜚声海内外,而此后的书写生涯更已为公众所熟知;韩辛少年天才,经过上海、美国、北京的艺术游历,成长为卓尔不群的自由画家。

本次展览以十年为一周期,将作品呈示为四个部分。除画作外,还公开了三位画家的文字叙述和大量老照片,以贯穿四十年的友谊为纽带,紧密连结了三位老朋友。他们的艺术

曾经影响了整整一代人,体现了超凡的绘画魅力和热爱生活、热爱生命的艺术追求。三人持续四十多年的绘画生涯,留下了大量的精品佳作,以这样的主题形式展出,是少见而有意

义的。它不仅是友谊、历史和艺术的见证,更是对个人在不同环境下友情的交织与绘画风格不断变化的深切回顾。

“四十年的故事——林旭东、陈丹青、韩辛画展”于2013年

4月9日在江苏省美术馆开幕。中国当代知名艺术家陈丹青携手

老朋友林旭东、韩辛,以三位画家相识四十年来的故事与作品

作为主线,叙述青年时代的理想、油画实践的轨迹,歌颂艺术

的友谊。展览展出纸本及油画作品约200件,展期至2013年4

月25日。开幕当天三位艺术家还将亲临现场举办讲座活动,讲

述在各个历史时期的生动故事及自我的艺术感受。

李剑晨先生的水彩画以娴熟的西画技法结合中国风土

化,对题材内容的开拓也颇为着力。无论画自然山川、名

胜古迹、地方风情、建设新姿,均根据立意触情的需要,

科班的学习和系统的训练,都是从临摹和写生中自学成才。

但他们的艺术却代表了深刻的个人素养和综合素质——这些

鲜活的可触摸的生活的描绘,体现了对艺术孜孜不倦的追求;

这些生动的写生,通过对生活的精确捕捉,充分展示了他们

非凡的才智和能力。

Campus Life (2011)Coursework of Illustration

This work is a kind of improvisation in class. Ms.Wang, our course tutor, asked us to illustrate the campus life in our mind and �nally present it on the woodblock with two colours, red and black .

Once I got the theme, I thought of many icons that can represent our university life, like bicycles we used everyday, school buses, the teaching buildings, blackboards, love a�aires and ect. In my opinion, life in school should be full of joy , so I presented this work in a easy way.

Theme: Life is what you make itContent: Ilustration Coursework(2011)

In many ways, life troubles us all the time. However, it should not be a good reason for us to allow those realistic predicaments tied up our dream wings. “Close your eyes, change vision of your life, start over, and be yourself.”In this artwork, I complicated the girl's hair with an exaggerating expression. An ancient China proverb says "hair is your three thou-sand strands of troubles". The girl in my picture is living with numerous tangible troubles, but she is blindfolded from the world outside. Her walking is light. What only matters to her is the world within heart that she is enjoying now.

Based on the theme of Youth and Vitality, Happy Nanjing City, I design a pair of mascots for the Youth Olympic Games—Lening and Lecheng. With auspicious clouds above head, Lening wears �ve-colored river stones clothes. Her head is like yanghua radish, the specialty in Nanjing, which gives a sense of vibrancy. The designing inspiration of Lecheng actually comes from Nanjing’s Ming Dynasty City Wall. He wears a city wall-like crown, re�ecting the spirit of winning the Olympic champion. His plum blossom-like ears and the honest expressions etc. embody that Nanjing people are honest and hospitable.

Lecheng is a mountain spirit from the Purple Mountain. He loves sports and music, whose honest looks and sincere smile indicate he welcomes people from di�erent places to Nanjing, which shows the youthful side of this ancient city.
