Weinland Park is located in a poverty stricken area of Columbus in which medical care is difficult to find. Our task for the project was to create a pre-natal care clinic that would also help with another aspect of child raising. In my design, in addition to the clinic, I added a garden and teaching center so that when a childis born the parents have the knowledge and means ofgetting fresh fruits and vegtables. The garden area ofthe project is made of a wood grid where the spaces within can be occupied by wood boards for walking, plants, or grass. These spaces change through out the time of year based on weather conditions and need by the community. By doing this, the path to the building and the visual apperence is constantly changing, stimulatingthe visitors. Along with the grid of planters, the building is made from reclaimed wood in the neighborhood, collects rainwater, and has a green roof made from the planters. These aspects allow the building to stay more cost effective and green.

Sullivant Hall is located at a key juncture on theOhio State campus. On one side, is the city ofColumbus and on the other side is the campus. Before the renovation, the building lacked anidentity on this key part of campus. My additionacts as a way to create a clear entrance forboth the city and the campus. Furthermoreeach entrance directs the visitor to a certainprogram, since the building will be used forthree main programs. The entrance to thetheater follows in the style of classic museums, theaters, and libraries in which they areraised above ground level to signify theirimportance when compared to surroundingbuildings.

Whole Foods is a grocery store chain that puts emphisison organic, farm-grown products. My design bringsgreen area that can be used for gardening, park space,or for a farmers market into the middle of a large city. This means that the visual site of the building changesthrough the seasons. The visual sight of the building alsochanges as a visitor walks from one level to another where each row of windows shows a different aspect of the workings of the Whole Foods market.

For this project, we were asked to create a museumfor a landfill located outside Columbus. The landfill is a constantly changing object; the work face movesthroughout the day. So, creating a building that couldchange with the landfill became the goal of my design. For this I began by observing that the crawler inStar Wars Episode IV operated in a similar style. Fromthere I researched ship structure and decided to makethe project about the experience of visiting the landfill.Visitors arrive at a stationary welcome center and thenare transported by bus to the museum in the vehicle. Here the facade is constantly changing by catchingtrash that is blown off the landfill. This means the viewto the landfill is constantly changing.

This site is located on a pennisula located across from downtownColumbus. It also has a theater and a science center located on it. My intervention to the site involves tying together all of these amenities in a central building. The building acts as a way to channelvehicle traffic from one of the major streets in Columbus, a way forthe theater and science center to plug into the neighborhood of Franklinton and the city as a whole. The building then is incorporatedinto the housing created on the site by forming smaller neighborhoodsthat then share the large amenities in the central building. Theidea of being inserted into the infrastructure of the city through the central building is then reestablished through the growth of the building along the main street in the future.

This installation was created after a study weconducted on a dance performance where there wasno set choreography. The dancers would instead take cues from and react to the improvisational moves of the other dancers in the performance. The installation follows this idea of action based on cues. It adapts toits surroundings and based on where the flow of trafficis, the installation lowers tubing to form walls thatindicate a route of travel and rooms in areas where thereis little activity. If the flow of traffic changes due to achange in surroundings, then the installation alsochanges to match the new flow of traffic.

While working with hot gun glue sticks on a project, Inoticed that they are opaque when light has not beenintroduced; however, when they are exposed to lightthey becomes translucent. From this observation, I decideto transform my ungulating landscape of glue sticks intoa lamp. The undulating surface causes the light to bedarker and lighter in parts creating a stunning visualeffect.

Hendrix College in Conway, AR approachedKirchner Architecture to remodel an exsisting bridge on campus that spans the major streetwhich runs right adjacent to campus. I was asked toexplore two different options for the bridge. The first option is to use an exsisiting bridge andmove it to the site. For the second option I was askedto create a bridge design that mimics a bridgelocated on the Vanderbilt University campus. Whendesigning the bridge, I incorporated the exsistingbridge structure to minimize costs. Anotherchallenge when designing the bridge was thedifference in campus styles. Vanderbilt is located in the center of a major city where asHendrix is a small campus in a small city. These bridges were modeled in REVITArchitecture for the rendering and drawing capabilities.

Hendrix College is a small liberal arts college which is in the process of expanding its athletic department by adding a football program. To do this I was asked to design a sports complexthat contained home and away locker rooms, support facilities for the football program anda gym and locker room for students that wantedto use the tennis courts that would be part ofthe facility. To accomplish this I designed a three building complex where each of thebuildings houses one of the main programs. The exterior design came from a previously completed Kirchner Architecture project. It was chosen for itscost efficient materials.
