Comprehensive Land Register
• Purpose– Reflect an accurate and reliable database of all
land parcels registered– Serve as a basis for land planning and
administration– Inform functions relating to property portfolio
management

• Progress– Physical verification of registered state land has
been substantially completed– 111 000 land parcels of state land remain to be
physically re-verified– Separation of private and state land data has been
completed

Progress• The first phase is intended towards alignment of
property details between Deeds offices and Surveyor-General offices, in particular the:– Township names– Sectional Title names – Farms names
The project is on track and the completion date is end of March 2013.• The next phase will address property details relating to
property description, extents etc

Department Bursary Scheme
• Purpose– To sponsor aspirant students to obtain
qualifications in Geomatics– To address skills shortage in Geomatics in the
country– To address transformation of the profession– To increase capacity of the state in functions
relating to Geomatics

Scarce Skills (Survey Officers Programme)
• Purpose– The Survey Officer course addresses the skill levels
required at the elementary levels of the profession and provides both taught and work-based training within the department.

Survey Officers Programme• Year intake out come
• 2008 65 intake 64 passed, 1 failed
• 2010 65 intake 58 passed, 7 resigned before completion.
• 2012 65 intake pilot for accreditation
• 58 of the students that completed the programme went to tertiary institution to study diploma or degree in Geomatics.

Accreditation Process
• For accreditation to be awarded: – CETA needs to conduct site visits– Monitor training and evaluation on three
components of learning namely knowledge unit standard, practical unit standard and work experience unit standard
– Once CETA is satisfied, full accreditation status will be awarded

September 2011.• Submission of assessor registration - 30 September 2011.• Scoping meeting - 11 October 2011.• Qualification Development meeting - 24 to 25 October 2011.• Consolidation meeting - 25 November 2011.• Submission of Qualification to QCTO - 5 December 2011.• Submission of Accreditation Application to CETA - 5 December
