ObjectivesCreate a new brochure to advertise for a youth basketball campUse Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign to create a pleasing layout
ProcessFirst, I created a logo using the pen tool on Illustrator and then applied it to the design on InDesign. I used Photoshop to crop out the images of the basketball hoop and the basketball. I used wrap text so that the text would wrap around these images. I used a flat design of black for the inside to make it look clean and concise. On the back of the design, I used a yellow box to create contrast with the rest of the black. I used good alignment in all of the places I could to make it clean and crisp. Lastly, I used the colors yellow, orange, and brick which complemented each other to make the audience think of basketball.

ObjectivesCreate a new business card for Lynns Cafe using Adobe Illustrator and InDesign
ProcessFor this design, I used the pen tool, the pencil tool, and the eye dropper tool. I downloaded fonts from Google.com/fonts to add an interesting font that not many people have seen before. I then used Adobe InDesign to create the business card. On the back of the business card, I used 100% opacity for the image of the cup to make it a clean, consistent look.

Objectives Create a simple letterhead for Lynns Cafe using Adobe InDesign and Illustrator
ProcessI began by sketching out ideas of different letterhead designs. After choosing the best one, I used Adobe Illustrator to create the logo. I used the pen tool, the pencil tool, the eye dropper tool. Then, I took this logo to Adobe InDesign to start creating the letterhead. I placed the logo on the top left of the page, making sure to keep plenty of space away from the edges and other element. I put the contact information on the top right, also giving it plenty of space to breathe. The letterhead is a flat design layout.

Objectives Create a black and white flier for the Graduate Leadership Conference
ProcessFor this filer, I used a large black box at the top with a long grey box underneath to create contrast. Under the image, I used a lighter grey rectangle box to draw the eye of the audience downward toward the information. I left white space to make the flier simple and easy on the eye. I kept the body copy small in order to contrast against the logo and question just below the image. I used two different typography categories to create contrast and interest. I aligned the body copy with the title on the left and right sides.

Objectives Create a montage of Christ and the Draper, Utah LDS Temple
ProcessI used Adobe Photoshop and I cropped the background image to 8.5 x 11 inches. Then, after adding a mask, I manipulated the background color (using filtering) so that the sky would come out more blue instead of being washed out and white. I used the saturation and hue/brightness tools. I brought in the image of Christ, sized it correctly, and then created another mask. I faded out the hard edges around His image to make Him flow into the rest of the design with a 40% opacity. I added some type with two contrasting fonts, using colors from my split complementary color scheme. I used the rule of thirds to create flow throughout the design. I also made sure the images and text were not too close to the edges of the design.

Objectives Create an attractive logo for Galaxy Digital Media using Adobe Illustrator
ProcessTo create the three versions of my this logo, I used the eyedropper tool, the pencil tool, and the ellipse tool on Adobe Illustrator. I also changed the width and opacity of the stroke (or border) to add interest. I searched for different fonts that would portray the message clearly. I searched for the best colors to use to be able to draw attention to itself. I made the word Digital bigger to add emphasis to the purpose of the logo. I made sure to align where I could, and centered the words within the circle.

Objectives Create a full bleed poster layout incorporating an original photo on Adobe Photoshop
ProcessTo create this poster, I chose a color scheme to base my poster off of. Then I took various photos of differing purple and pink flowers to use in the poster. I used Adobe Photoshop to create my poster, using tools such as the rectangle tool, the blur tool (using a slight blur filter outside of the main flower), the eyedropper tool, and rulers. I also added differing drop shadows around the text to add interest, but I decided not to keep them; less is more. I paid really close attention to the color scheme for this project.

Objectives Create a full bleed advertisement for the Nature 5K for Women using Adobe InDesign
ProcessFirst, I searched for a bright, bold, and high-quality picture of a sunrise or sunset. I chose an analogous color scheme, keeping the text tones neutral so that the sunset could really pop. I used allignment on all sides of the design to ensure visual flow. I kept plenty of white space to really draw the audiences attention to the sunset itself. I searched for fonts on the internet that would be pleasing to the eye, and not so overused. I used two types of fonts, making sure to have plenty of contrast.

ObjectivesCreate a web page to describe the design process of the Lynns Cafe logo using HTML and CSS code ProcessI created this webpage using TextWrangler and Adobe DreamWeaver. I inserted the logo image into the HTML, and then I connected the CSS and HTML so that they would both show up on the web page. I used the colors from my logo in my web page to use repetition and continuity, using the eyedropper tool on Photoshop and finding the color code. I made the edges of the inner gray box squared off so that it would compliment the logo image of the cup. I changed the fonts to Avenir and Georgia to add contrast within the font types. I inserted backup fonts to use just in case the browser didnt have the fonts I wanted. I used padding around the title of the web page so that the letters wouldnt be so close to the edges.
