Materials, Trades, & ToolsI’ve worked with a wide range of materials and trades from the ground up. I am most proficient in: con-
crete, framing, decks, wood floors, drywall, windows, doors, trim, and roofing. Over the years I’ve worked
in wood shops and studios, and even more so on job sites.
Skill SetsForeman: Demonstrates the ability to conceive the finished design as well as take the essential steps
needed to reach the desired outcome. Patients, communication, and a strong sense of when to delegate
tasks to assistants and teach techniques. Acting as foreman has further developed my ability to produce
on a daily basis and reach deadlines. It’s also increased my organization of tasks and materials to efficient-
ly navigate projects in a clean and safe manner.
Designer & Craftsman: Heightened attention to aesthetics and details with the skills and ability needed
to generate the final product. As a designer & craftsman I’ve worked with a wide range of materials and
techniques, and can quickly develop an understanding of any new or unfamiliar materials. I’ve attained a
willingness to assert and/or accept constructive criticism, and do so in a productive and practical manner.
While studying print production and graphic design I became proficent in the Adobe Suite and worked
as a freelance graphic designer. Since then my ability to learn 3-D rendering programs and auto-cad has
been seemless.

Philip Gann was born in San Diego, California, in 1987. Gann lived and worked in the
San Francisco Bay Area from 2011-2018. He received a BA in Fine Arts with a dual em-
phasis in Studio Art & Art History from San Francisco State University 2013. Gann has
been awarded with the Distinction Gallery Scholarship 2011, Martin Wong Scholarship
2012, and the Ron & Sue Meier Scholarship 2014. While in the Bay Area he became an
assistant director at Incline gallery, the manager of The Loft a private artist studio, and
attended Penland School of Craft in North Carolina twice on separate scholarships.
Presently Gann is pursuing his Master degree in Landscape Architecture at Cal Poly
Pomona with an estimated graduation date of 2021.
Before moving to Southern California to attend Cal Poly Pomona Gann lived and
worked in the San Francisco Bay Area from 2011 to 2018. After graduating Cum Laude
from San Francisco State University he began working for The Garden Route Company
(TGRC.) Starting out as a carpenter for TGRC he quickly worked his way up to a foreman
position the first year and has since excelled in the field of landscape architecture. As a
carpenter and foremen for the company, Gann has become well versed in the execution
of constructing award winning landscapes. Working along side the Landscape Archi-
tect Sandy Ayers, the Landscape Designer and Contractor Richard Radford, and the 30
some employees they have working for them has granted Gann valuable experience
in the field. With aspirations to design projects coupled with his desire to expand his
understanding of landscapes and the people they appease, he has chosen to pursue
his graduate degree at Cal Poly Pomona. Now, attending Cal Poly Gann is using his
artistic background and professional experience to assist his peers and contribute to his
cohorts success as a team.
