An intervention in a public transit space,Depok Lama train station, presents anew meaning into the station platformwith the presence of a point of interest.

‘Point of interest’ idea come as the issueof the site which is static and created aphenomena called absent minded.

This intervention can transform into so-mething useful because it can beused to sit or lean the body, especiallyat the rush hour when the otherplatform facilities might less acomodative.

One of the new meanings is by reusingmineral water bottle. It is easy to find andcan be used to make people aware abouteco-friendly lifestyle. These bottles, especially on the seat part, are filledwith water to make the whole structurestronger. The water could also givescool and soft effect.

It is a project designing a furniture that canaccomodate activities in Lobby K, Facultyof Engineering, Universitas Indonesia.

The issues are the lobby’s users who haveproblems, such as wi-fi user with laptop, and the image of this lobby which is lessrepresentative because of the students wholike to sit on the floor while doing their tasks.

This furniture aims to improve the way LobbyK users sit with simple and efficient design.Beside that, hopefully it makes the lobbymore representative with the new imaget h r o u g h t h e i n n o v a t i v e d e s i g n .

HAPPY FIT DESK

While studying or doing a task on a table for a long time, temporary we get our body stiff because of the static position.Painful of our muscles after overuse or weariness can makeour work performance less optimum and not efficient.Nowadays, there is no working table equipped with chair that can make working activity more enjoyable and less tiring.

Happy Fit designed as a simple solution to make working ontable more efficient. With this product, light exercise such aspedaling, streighten foot, and stretching waist can be done while working. We can also have a different view by rotatingthe chair, so the boredom can be prevented. All those light exercise are to decrease weariness and give more fun andm o r e h e a l t h y w o r k i n g a c t i v i t y .

Happy Fit consists of some parts and uses recycle material(such as the bike frame). The bike frame is being modificated(by detached the wheel) and is used as the main part ofthe furniture. The seat has been changed into rotating chairequipped with foam and back support. Circle board as tableis installed to place the book or laptop. The front part is equipped with storage. The bike paddle still exist. The backof the down part is equipped with wheel which is possibleto move and rotate the furniture. Meanwhile, the front ofthe down part is a stable base equipped with rubber.

This pedal is good for the user’s motoric. Based on a research, biking (pedaling) can bring happy effect. So, it can be asimple exercise that can be done while working.

a pivot under the chair can makeit rotating, so it will be easy to doan exercise and stretch the waist

Multilayer structure, consist of the settled oneand the rotating one (up to 360 degree). Inmakes the user’s position more flexible andgives a “happy effect”. Beside that, the user’sview can be varied without moving (just byrotating the chair to the pivot). So, it can beless boring while working.

Pucuk Rebung lamp can be used as table lamp (beside bed) or to provide some kind of activities at a room in home that needs to stimulate a calm and warm ambient, for example in the living room. This product targets to young and adult urban society who appreciate traditional culture value.

Pucuk Rebung lamp combines one of Indonesia’s Batik patterns (Batik Betawi) with tapestry method (one of weaving methods that comes from Europe). This ambient lamp was designed to project shadow of Batik Betawi’s initial pattern: Pucuk Rebung (tumpal). Pucuk Rebung is batik pesisir typical that illustrates bamboo stem bud. This Pucuk Rebung pattern is installed in a triangle wood module frame which is made by weaving tapestry method. Pucuk Rebung lamp combines the shape of triangle modules which forms octahedron. Not each triangle module is filled by tapestry, so the shadow of Batik Betawi’s initial pattern (tumpal) could be projected.

If we turn on the lamp, it will shows the shadows of pucuk rebung pattern (one of Betawi’s batik pattern). It could give certain nuance for the room such as relax, calm, and warmth from its dim light.

It is a community-based design project that facedmany failures in the activity process. Surveys, interviews, workshops; six out of eleven activities has not done asexpected.

However, failure does not mean unsuccessful. Failure byfailure somehow guide the team to another result: research. What things which need attention while communicatingwith a community? How deep is area context shouldbe learned? What is the appropriate way of community-based design method?

BACKDROP DESIGN

Thousand leaves grow upon the branches is a hope for the millions of people who live in this earth. Unfortunately, humans can not cherish its existence and do not preserve them well. Leaf figures fulfill this artwork, but it will never enough as long as they are not the natura l , but the ar t i f i c ia l one.

Have you ever imagined those artificial leaves might be the only one which could remain instead of the natural one?

BOOK

I was in charged in material and book output team of Architecture Excursion to Wakatobi. This book was aboutour team who were experience living in SamaBahari Village, the place where Bajau (or Bajo) ethnic grouplive. We did some researches about their unusual way ofliving as they built their own houses and villages floatingon the sea.The tagline of this book was “Tanah airku, airtanahku”, which means that the ocean was their ‘land’ wherethey live and dwell, whereas the land (where normal peoplelive and build homes) was just like water for normal people(where normal people didn’t live and dwell here).

Old memories, happy memories, sweet memories. Thosewhich happened on the past tend to be kept inside our mind,or some of us will let those written on personal notes.The past relates with time and space. The past that was sofar away to be reached. The time that brings out thei m a g e o f p e o p l e a n d t h e p l a c e s b a c k t h e n .

Someone missed his childhood memories so much.He missed the time when he was playing around the yardunder the big tree. The air, the sound of her friends playing, the bright sun, the beautiful sky filled with some kites. Those memor ies popped ou t f r om h i s no tes . I twould only stay on the diary because they were no longer existed.
