_researchA study was conducted looking at potential overlap and connections between the ma-jors in Columbia’s diverse campus. Th e study looked at four components of art and design: performance, audio, visual, and digital.
Th e review of the study produces a result showing that each major not only has its own disciplinary but also overlaps the disci-plinary of the other majors. Th is overlapping opportunity, known as interdisciplinary (re-lating to more than one branch of knowl-edge), provides an opportunity for students to collaborate with students from other ma-jors or disciplines. Th is collaboration creates an opportunity for extra-disciplinary:; the knowledge diff erent from already known in-formation gained by seeing, hearing, or expe-riencing another’s work.
