FALL 2012 DURATION - THREE MONTHSDuring my fi rst advanced studio I worked on an aerodynamic skyscraper that was situated on a designated site along the Chicago River. The design starts as a lens shape on the lower fl oors, which follows the wind patterns of the specifi c site. As the tower rises above the surrounding buildings, it twists and transforms to a compressed shape that is more aerodynamic in all directions and also allows panoramic views to the upper fl oors.

SPRING 2011 DURATION - THREE MONTHSDuring my fourth semester I focused on wood construction, specifi cally a cabin and campsite. My cabin is an A-frame construction with fi xed openings that act as entrances as well as passageways through the building.

Boathouse/Community Center

FALL 2011 DURATION - THREE MONTHSMy fi fth semester focused on steel construction with a design of a rowing boathouse and community center. Having the site on the Chicago River required a certain orientation in relation to the community center so that the rowers could maneuver their 60-foot boats.

Chapel/Monastery

SPRING 2012 DURATION - THREE MONTHSA Chapel and Monastery was the focus of my sixth semester. With concrete construction it is important to play with light on many textured surfaces throughout the structure.

Architecture Internship/Digital Fabrication

SUMMER 2011 DURATION - FOUR MONTHSWorking as an intern at an architectural fi rm, I gained experience assembling sheets, producing Revit rendered concept art, working on job sites with construction engineers in the fi eld, and making customer-requested changes.

2012-2013 DURATION - TWO YEARSUsing modern technology, such as laser cutters, CNC, and 3D printers, I have digitally fabricated many of the projects seen here. Designing these projects not only involved the original designs, but also allowing for the parameters involved in the machining process.

Rock Climbing/Study Abroad

2010-2013 DURATION - THREE YEARS - Advertisement for the Rock Climbing Club that I helped establish on my college campus.

SUMMER 2012 DURATION - ONE MONTH - While studying in Europe, my class focused on sketching architecturally signifi cant buildings using diff erent media including, pencil, ink, pastels and watercolor. We also learned about advanced green techniques not yet commonly adapted in North America.
