  • Participant project in the Chair Luis Barragan. The aim of this project was to generate an architectural proposal to develop a immediate care specialized unit for detoxification of legal and illegal drugs according to the objectives and established program requirements. Located between the streets of Mariano Rosas and Juventino Azueta in the city of Monterrey, Nuevo Len, Mxico. This image shows the integration of the Center with the surrounding buildings such as the psychiatric hospital, as one of the objectives was to establish formal communication between them. It also shows some of the possible pedestrian connections that the center can have with restricted access.

  • Turistic and urban project located in Mxico, in the state of Veracruz, specificallyon the coast of Agua Dulce town. It attempts to rehabilitate the trade and tourism area in the zone. The workspace is divided into four parts, the first three located in the beach called "Palmitas" and the other in the community called "Tonal" which is already an urbanized area and suggests some reforms to improve trade and boost tourism.

Architectural plans of the main building, this is the home to the administrative area and where the recreational activities take place such as horseback riding, amongothers.

All cabins have a terrace or deck on the ground floor, a place that lends itself to all kinds of meetings and indistinct activities. It also has a balcony that promotes the view of the beach. All the materials used both in the cabin and in the administrative building are found in local area;cocowood specifically. The double and quadruple cabin follow the same line of design adjusting to more space for bigger groups of people.

Project of urban nature, aims to successfully fit with the great volume that a five star international hotel represents in an established urban environment. From the beginning it was intended to relate the height of the hotel to the surrounding buildings, this is how the project respected and intregated to its environment. This was achieved through an analysis of the context that led to proposing different answers in wich its form showed the height relation intended, this way, by numerous trials, the final volume came to life. It was determinant in the design process to follow the program, always putting the spatiality of these functional areas first. Other important factor was the use of double and triple heights in the access and common areas. Overall, the building represents a staggering ascending towards the north, which relates to the tall buildings located in this direction. The buildings tectonic has inserts of volumes created by transparencies using different color of glass and a single unifying structure.

  • Project consisting on remodeling a home. In the original project plans we can see that the layout of the house is not the optimal and a small space cuts the interaction between other areas of the house working better when connected; so the new proposal seeks to focus on maximizing the performance of the house-work by rearranging the distribution. The same happens on the second floor where we find that the secondary bedrooms share a bathroom.

  • Project consisting in the improvement of an existing renovation proposal of part of Fruit and vegetable Market, Mercabarna; it is the management company of the Food Wholesale Unit concentrating all the markets in the city of Barcelona, and also many processing, trade, distribution, import and export of fresh and frozen products firms. The intervention takes place in eleven industrial buildings. Each of these buildings has a loading and unloading area, a central corridor dedicated to product display, storage area, an office and cold conservation room for storage and preservation of the products between a 5 and 12 C temperature. As a starting point an industrial building 'type'was taken and studies were developed about its behavior in the climate of Barcelona. The conclusions we reached are summarized in the need for direct solar radiation protection in the central exposure corridor, the increase of natural lighting and the implementation of Photovoltaic Panels and telecommunications network.

This analysis of shadows shows the direct radiation impact on the central corridor in the new proposal and thanks to the new roof cover it is very wellilluminated without solar radiation throughout the day when the sun is most vertical and at different hours of the day(June 22).

  • These images show the differences between the original project (left) and the new proposal (right). It is observed that its major change is in the roof cover, wich being perfectly North-South oriented allows maximum natural lighting but not direct sun radiation. In the sections is showed how the level machine room was suppressed, and in the new proposal they are placed in a service yard on the deck, thus the building gets cleaner, clearer and takes advantage of the natural resources such as the sun and the wind.

These comparisons are the ones that later willallow us to test and verify the values ofimprovement between the original and the new proposal through the analysis of theprojects using different software programs such as Phoenics (for wind analysis), Ecotect (for shadows and radiation) and Radiance (for values of natural illumination).

  • In the Analysis of Radiation (right) we observe the values of direct solar radiation on the exhibition hall over a whole year, in the original proposal we observed higher values and more presence during this period, while this is not the case in the new proposal.

    ECO

T In the analysis of winds (left) we can see clearly that in the original proposal the walls act as a barrier within the building while in the new proposal the openings in the front eave allow the free passage of the wind and the openings in the roof cover the venturi effect is produced which results in expulsion from the wind and improves the natural ventilation.

For the home automation the KNX system is the chosen one. An intelligent installation system that meets the highest requirements for applications in modern home and building control, reaching the demand for comfort and versatility in the management of air-conditioning , lighting and access control systems. At the same time, the efficient use of energy. In order to transfer control data to all components of the building a system is required, where all these components can communicate via a single language: a system such as KNX bus. Below in the first image is shown the operation scheme of the installation; in the second, the floor plan of the localion of the sensors and actuators.

    TELECOMMUNICATIONRACK

For the telecommunication system a simple rack will be used, this rack will concentrate all the elements such as IP Tele-phone, surveillance cameras, ethernet outputs, video display of information about the locals, food, prices and time shcedules and a server for the KNX system so the energy consumption information may be at the reach of the users and owners of each and every local in the market. Each industrial building will have the rack installation underground at the center and then these will be communicated among themselves. Here we have a floor plan of the scheme of telecom-munications and the location and outputs of the elements.
