At Yale, Robie was a recipient of the James Gamble Rogers Fellowship Award for excellence in design and academics. Upon graduation he was awarded the Samuel G. Fogelson Memorial Prize for excellence in archi- tecture design. During his time at Yale, Robie studied under such esteemed architects as Deborah Berke and Demetri Porphyrios. Robie graduated from the University of Virginia in 1999 with a B.S. Architecture degree with High Honors. Upon gradu- ation, Robie was awarded the Z Society’s Edgar F. Shannon Award which are given to the “best” graduating students from each of the University’s schools. Those so honored have “pursued academic greatness with fervent ardor and keen insight while never forgetting the importance of those priori- ties aside from school.” Work Experience After graduating from Yale, Robie worked for the interna- tionally renowned firm, Robert A.M. Stern Architects. Dur- ing his time there he participated in the design of the firm’s most distinguished projects including the 1000 foot tall Comcast Center in Philadelphia and the Master Plan for the Philadelphia Navy Yard. Robie was the project architect for One Crescent Drive, the first office building at the Navy Yard, which received LEED Platinum Status by the U.S. Green Building Council. Prior to working at Stern, Robie worked for Hugh Newell Jacobsen, FAIA in Washington, DC. While there, he worked on numerous high-end residential projects for the award winning firm. Since 2007, Robie has been the owner of R.J. Wood Architects in Westfield, NJ. His firm specialized over that time in residential and small-scale commercial projects. As design principal and ower, Robie was responsible for all aspects of each project from concept through completion. On select projects, R.J. Wood Architects, also acted as Construction Manager with responsibilities for coordina-tion of subcontractors, managing the sched-ule, and working directly with the municipal authorities.
R.J. Wood Architects had an intiative for green renovations for small-scale residences and gut-renovated a rundown Cape Cod. The project was featured in the Newark Star-Led-ger and the Cranford (NJ) Chronicle as well as in presentations to local community groups.
