COCOON CONCEPT

The main idea is focus on future urban area, there will be more crowded and per-sonal car should be control in the city center. Therefore we need new type of urban vehicle to deal with the space issue. Since most of car in the city are not in use between going to work and going home, if we can create an system which can share cars in the city for short distance will help to reduce the number of cars. It is an autonomous vehicle aim to be share but keep private storage also it provides family needs for daily use.

Urban vehicle usage in the city

Storage tree concept

Collapsible hard shell

The “glove box” provide a space for private belongings, when sharing the car to other user you can keep them safe. The tree is a building where stores collapsed vehicles and its underground stores glove box and batteries. When folding the vehicle, vacuum beans out, fold the hard part then remove battery and glove box at the same time. The main structure of the vehicle is skateboard

with a foldable hard shell, and the rest of the body uses inflated nano-silicone filled with EPS beans. When

Page 22: PORTFOLIO

THE SKETCHThis concept is a sharing vehicle base on the “folding” idea in urban area. So it is an asymmetry, the sketch shows here is the soft side. Although we designed use nano-silicon as mate-rial, we keep the styling as vehicle form and make it interesting enough.

CLAY PROCESSThis project is designed for urban short-distance movement, our concept focus on folding structure of this vehicle. The idea is from shell, so it has two side one is hard and the rest of the vehicle use soft material include wheels. When doing clay, it is a challenge to make an asymmetry form. I tried to make it balance and crate a new type of urban mobility. In our team, I am the team leader and in charge of all clay modelling.

DESIGN THEME

MOVING SPACE DURABLE ELEGANCE

CHRYSLER 100CCHRYSLER has strong history and image, however the model line up is not clear and complete. This project is focus on the B-Segment package for CHRYSLER. Which is more interesting when FIAT control CHRYSLER, they can share b-segment platform and technology. For design, I would like to clarify the brand image and try to create strong character on this entry model of CHRYSLER. Introduce a new CHRYSLER for young people start to love it.

CLAY PROCESSIn this project, I would like to make the vehicle keep the strong cue that Chrysler has and trying to create best proportion base on the package. In the end it should be a readable form as sculpture.

FINAL CLAYUnpainted clay on presentation. I didn’t put too much dressing, because I want to simply show the surface and proportion.

SKETCHESWhen sketching, I tried to express the shape of fluid and speed, and created special shape from automotive elements.

KEY FORMThe form is from Black-backed Jackal and the Egypt god “Anubis.” That is one of my favorite animal and mythology.

Development Sketches

For this project, I want to use forms to express the design process.Designing is indeed a process from obscure to precise, like manythoughts coming to one point. The point is the transition to a solution.

SKETCHES

Page 45: PORTFOLIO

DESIGN PROCESSSketching during the modeling process, then trying to make balances on a 3 dimension form. In this case I would like to present the beautiful of the twisted surface.

KEY SKETCHPure but not simple, I tried to create surfac-es with tension on a simply form. The half hemisphere represent the center where generated power and future.
