OBJECTIVE:

CONCEPT:

WORKING IN TEAMS, DESIGN A NEW OFFICE BUILDING FOR PURFOODS-A LARGE COMPANY THAT IS PASSIONATE ABOUT CREATING MEALS FOR OTHERS-IN ANKENY, IOWA. THE PROJECT IS TO BE COMPLETED IN CONJUNCTION WITH PIGOTT AND HERMAN MILLER.

BY USING BEES AND THEIR HONEYCOMBS AS INSPIRATION, WE STRIVE TO CREATE A WORKING ATMOSPHERE FOR ALL. A NATURAL FRAMEWORK BALANCES AN OPEN AND FLEXIBLE ENVIRONMENT THAT FACILITATES COMMUNICATION, TEAMWORK, AND AN OVERALL SENSE OF COMMUNITY. ALL “BEES” MUST WORK TOGETHER TO ACHIEVE A COMMON GOAL.

WHILE WORKING INTERNATIONALLY IN GROUPS, CREATE THE FIRST WEST ELM SHOWROOM IN ROME, ITALY.

WEAVING A BASKET: CREATING TEXTURE BY COMBINING MATERIALS AND BRINGING MULTIPLE PIECES TOGETHER TO CREATE ONE COHESIVE PIECE. COMBINING TWO DISTINCT CULTURES, AMERICAN AND ROMAN, INTO ONE UNIFYING SPACE.

CONCEPT:

TO DESIGN A NEW ASSISTED LIVING FACILITY IN PANAMA, AND TO EXTEND OUR UNDERSTANDING OF INSTITUTIONAL DESIGN AND UNIVERSAL DESIGN AS THEY PERTAIN TO THE FUTURE NEEDS OF THE AGING POPULATION GLOBALLY AS WELL AS LOCALLY.

A REJUVENATING SPACE THAT ESTABLISHES HARMONY BETWEEN NATURE AND THE LIVING. A RENEWING ENERGY FORMS A HEALING ENVIRONMENT. A PLACE WHERE THE RESIDENTS CAN NURTURE OLD MEMORIES WHILE CREATING NEW ONES.

USING A PAINTING AS INSPIRATION, CREATE AN ABSTRACT SCULPTURE AND SHELTER TO BE PLACED ON CAMPUS.

CREATE VIBRANT AND ORGANIC STRUCTURES THAT PRODUCE A STRONG EMOTIONAL REACTION THAT IS SIMILAR TO SAM FRANCIS’ “SUMMER NO. 2” PAINTING.

WITH A PARTNER, DESIGN A HIGH-END RESIDENTIAL INTERIOR FOR JUSTIN AND HELEN HIGHWATER THAT COMBINES TWO APARTMENTS LOCATED AT 15 CENTRAL PARK WEST IN NEW YORK INTO ONE SINGLE SPACE.

A POSITIVE, HEALING, AND ELEGANT ATMOSPHERE WHICH MAKES THE CLIENTS FEEL AT EASE AS THEY MOVE AROUND THE INTERIOR.
