REDCHURCH STREETRedchurch Street is a busy commercial street in Bethnal Green. Being

near to Shoreditch High Street, it is a street having high number of privately owned shops of all types. The proposal of conversion of 77-81 RedchurchStreet into 6 one-bedroom flats, on this type of street, was not to be done without omitting the street character.

Hence, the design included shops on the ground floor. All the other 3 floors consisted of flats. The height of the building, decorative elements and other architectural elements were designed to be in perfect harmony with the surrounding buildings.

Being a dominated public building, prime priority was given to Health and Safety Regulations.

HIGH ROAD LEYTONHigh Road Leyton is an extremely busy commercial street having continuous row of open display shop frontages. The influences of high street buildings and attractive architectural elements are not a degree less than that of the brightly lighted shops.

401 High Road leyton was originally a Gas Station including a Car Wash. It was unpleasant construction breaking the street character.The proposal for constructing it into a mixed-use building, comprising of 4 shops and 8 flats, was made keeping in mind the street character. As it is a

corner property, the design also incorporated some bold modern materials so as to give a contrast and to add an element of surprise to the street character. This made the building attractive without losing its context.

EAST ROAD,Being in the core of a dense residential area in Stratford, the

Proposal of converting it into a 6 Flats Dwelling Building was achallenging task.

As it is located on a road where majority of the residences are 3 bedroom houses, it was designed such that the conversion made minimal impact on its front elevation.

Despite of this major conversion, the building looks like a private residence from outside. But the proposal is entirely self-sufficient in terms of Council Laws and requirements; like providing sufficient private parking, common garden area, disability provisions etc.

EARLHAM GROVEEarlham Grove is a site which was originally an underused factory. The proposal was to convert it into 12 self-contained flats. Being very near to railway track, besides design and other important factors, acoustics also played a major role. Being G+ 4 storeys in height it was easily visually accessible from relatively distant places. Due to its dominating height it was supposed to be treated as a landmark building for the area.

The bold circular design was created taking this fact into consideration. Also it was designed to be in context with a nearby high rise building.

The flat boasts large rooms, common garden spaces for each flats and optimum parking spaces.
