when first designed, copley square was to be highly developed, with little to no green space

with the addition of the museum and the high numbers of pedestrians, green space was added

as trinity church was introduced to the square, it began to be shaped as a public space and destination

the library increased the public space of the square, and was coupled with the introduction of trinity island

when the museum moved to the back bay fens, the lot come home to the fairmount copley hotel

years after the square was allowed to become a continuous green space the iconic tower was built

the square today is home to some of bostons greatest architecture, and attracts numerous visitors
