The design must positively promote & represent the European Union & European Culture through form, materials, and it’s lifecycle. • RSA Competition 2006 (Shortlisted)

• Sustainable Tourism• Urban Camping

• Realisation:

We adapted a warehouse in Edinburgh & designed an intervention to provide the campsite facilities; a modular system which would fit into many other sites. Services are provided through energy from solar thermal panels & a ground source heat pump. The intervention is made from locally sourced timber, is clad in recycled rubber & reused metal from the roof. The concept of Urban Camping can be utilised throughout the city as there are many potential sites in abandoned warehouses & factories.

• 3rd Year Final Project

• Doggerfisher Gallery, Edinburgh

• Brief:To utilise the buildings which form the Doggerfisher Gallery in the Broughton area of Edinburgh. The space is to include -Permanent & Temporary Exhibition Space, Photography Studios, darkrooms, & workshop/seminar areas.

I chose the photographer Steve Mc Curry, & his work from Sahel in Africa. His work is centred on the people of areas of conflict, and he creates very powerful images. As a result, my chosen images greatly influenced my concept and materials of this project.
