College Assignment - Stamps

This assignment gave me a chance to design four stamps for Australia Post. I chose to paint my stamps in an expressionist style.

I felt it gave the images movement and individuality. I feel it also shows the innocence and beauty of the sea.

B e a c h C h i c .Looking for a style that’s both elegant and beach friendly? Check out these

decorating tips and bring shoreside sophistication into your home.

Add Wood

For old beach shacks, wood was the building material of choice. It remains popular in

shoreside homes today because of its easy maintenance and warm appearance. Show

off your home’s original wood or create the same effect by applying V-groove or beaded

board to existing wallboard. Coat walls, ceilings, doors, and trim in the same white hue

to create a uniform backdrop for furniture and accessories. As the daylight changes, so

will the space’s colour and feel. Shake things up with a few unexpected accents. Mir-

rored and modern pieces blend seamlessly yet keep the look from becoming predict-

able.

Victoria Ghost Side Chair from Design Within Reach; dwr.com. Mirrored console, side

table, and slipcovered furnishings (similar to those shown) from BeachDwelling; beach-

dwelling.com.

Cover Up

For a natural look, pair weathered wood furniture with fi ne or coarse linen fabrics. The

salvaged or reclaimed wood lends a sense of history, while the fabrics provide subtle so-

phistication. For practicality, consider slipcovers. Whether tailored or loose-fi tting, slipcov-

ers are salt-, sand-, and family-friendly, and can easily be washed or replaced. And don’t

forget to accent with treasures from the sea. Nothing shouts “beach” louder than shells!

College Assignment - Magazine “GLOW”

We had to find a gap in the market and create a magazine. I wanted to create a magazine for women who live by or love the

beach. It’s about fashion, lifestyle and interior design. I wanted to create a magazine that was high end but also about the home while still being sexy.

Event Design

College Assignment - Festival Poster

For this assignment we had to invent a festival and design a poster to advertise the festival. I created Bluesfest in Mission Beach which is a

blues and roots music festival. It has a relaxed atmosphere showcasing new talent from all over Australia. I also created a ticket and VIP Pass to show the style across multiple pieces of collateral.

College Assignment - CD Packaging

Here I designed a CD cover, label, booklet and sticker for up and coming Australian Indie Folk singer Kim Churchill. He is known for

his earthy sounds and comes from the south coast so I felt an organic beach feel suited him best. I also created an original knifeline for the packaging.

College Assignment - Cookie Packaging

We were given the opportunity to create a package for 12 cookies. I wanted my design to be fun, creative, cheeky, quirky and high

quality. I created original characters and a new knifelline.

College Assignment - Fedex print campaign

For this assignment we were to create three print advertisements for Fedex. The Tag line to be used was “Faster”. I chose to go down the

angle of what isn’t good fast.

College Assignment - Book Cover

This book cover was created for the new style “Chic Geek”. I created a book written by the famous chic geek Alexa Chung. It

has a hand made or recycled look which is very on trend. The pencil drawn image also ties in with the geeky look.

“Wear stupid shoes!”Alex Chung

Chung is a muse to many fashion designers because of her distinctive personal style. She frequently appears on best dressed lists, is a regular cover girl for Vogue, Elle and Harper’s Bazaar and is often seen in

the front row at fashion shows.

Vogue’s Anna Wintour has described Chung as “a phenomenon”, while the New York Times has declared her “the Kate Moss of the new generation”. Chanel designer Karl Lagerfeld has described her

as “beautiful and clever...a modern girl”.

In December 2010, Bryan Ferry, on behalf of the British Fashion Council, presented Chung with the British Style Award which “recognises an individual who embodies the spirit of British fashion and is an international ambassador for the UK as a leading creative hub for fashion” at a ceremony at the Savoy Theatre in London.

At the British Fashion Awards 2011, Chung won the British Style Award, which was

voted for by the public.

There is a geek buried inside all of us and Alexa Chung is known for embracing it.

In this book she shows how you too can become known as a queen of The Chic Geek. This guide will show you who else is wearing it, how it all came about and why Alexa has so much fun embracing her geeky side. It is full of beautiful artistic photography that showcases the fashion movement, allowing you to copy and embrace the sexy geeky look. After reading it you will know exactly where to buy the look, how to wear it and why the geeks are coming back as the sexy new IT girls. With Alexa’s help you will have that effortlessly sexy, chic geek look

before you can say, Rubik’s Cube!

“Extraordinary insight into the world of the chic geek, along with amazing photographs. A look book to hold onto.”

- David Davidar CEO Penguin International

“Geek is the new black and Alexa has shown us why...”- Kirstie Clements Editor Vogue Australia

College Assignment - TVC & Press

This 30 second TVC was created for the Sydney Writers Festival. The approach was comical and shocking. I then

created a press Ad to run along side of the campaign. This would be a running campaign with seven different press ads.

Adv e r t i s i n g

Scene 1 (Level Angle, Wide shot, Static Camera, 3 sec)Open on a filthy, neglected apartment on a hot summer evening. A fan is desperately trying to cool the room .An obesely overweight man is reclining in an armchair. He is sweaty, smelly and watching television with a beer in one hand and the remote in the other. He is wearing a stained singlet that may hav e once resembled white, shorts that fall down his backside regardless of how many times he pulls them up and thongs that are old and dirty.

Scene 4(Level Angle, Medium Shot, Dolly following behind, 3 sec)He is now waddling towards the bathroom. His bottom crack is visible because of his ever descending shorts and his thongs are making that “flip flop” sound. The man is reaching out towards the walls and surfaces as he passes them to support him and his weight. His breathing is laboured from rushing only a short distance from extreme unfitness and obesity.

Scene 3 (Level Angle, Extreme Close Up, Dolly following from behind, 3 secs)We see a Extreme Close Up shot of the man’s chunky feet shuffling down the hallway.

Scene 6(Level Angle, Medium Shot, Static Camera, 4 sec, quick cut to Extreme Close Up to empty toilet roll)We see a waist up shot of the man looking uncomfortable and then relieved. He is sweatier than he was before. We won’t hear any sounds here. The man reaches for the toilet paper but becomes horrified to see that there is no toilet paper there. We can see that this will only lead to trouble.

Scene 2(Level Angle, Medium Shot, Static Camera, 4 sec)The man’s stomach grumbles loudly, he holds his tummy and cringes as if to say “Oh no”. The man is now struggling out of his armchair as quickly as he can. He violently throws his weight about to thrust himself up onto his feet.

Scene 5(Level Angle, Wide shot, Static Camera, 3 sec)The man makes it into the toilet and sits down whilst feverishly struggling to take down his pants and close the bathroom door after sitting on the toilet. The audience fears that he might not make it still as he does all this.

Scene 7(Low Angle, Point of Magazines View, 2 sec)The man tries to look around the cramped bathroom to see if there is anything he can use as toilet paper. Because of his size and weight, he leans around awkwardly so that he might not overbalance and fall off the toilet.

Scene 8(Level Angle, Close Up, Static Camera, 4 sec)The man spots a dirty, dog-eared magazine in the corner amongst some dead cockroaches. He picks it up and eyes it as if it were a diseased, unsavoury item. We see the moment of indecision on his face. We can see that the man is anticipating being uncomfortable as he makes up his mind. He tears off a page with his big meaty hand and reaches behind himself with the torn and crumpled magazine page.

Scene 9(Closing Frame, Typography only, 4 sec)Stamp Tag line, “Time to put literature to good use” flashes on the screen and is followed 2 seconds after by the ‘Sydney’s Writers Festival’ logo underneath it.
