In The Interior Dimension, Malnar investigates Pevsner’s question, “Can a bicycle shed be architecture?” In the bicycle shed assignment, we questioned the meaning of “architecture” and what, if anything, differentiates architecture from regular building construction. Architecture communicates ideas, pleases the senses, brings us closer to Maslow's level of Self Actualization. My organic bike shelter was inspired by Persian and Islamic architecture design.

H. THEORY

In Architectural Theory, we were given assignments which required us to study various popular works of architecture. One building I chose is Jubilee Church in Rome, Italy by Richard Meier. We were required to analyze geometry, proportion, use of natural and artificial light, movement on the site and in the building, and hierarchy of spaces.

H. THEORY

Our final project in Architectural Theory was a choice of a skyscraper or another project approved by the instructor. I am very interested in planning and development so I chose to do a small mixed-income community housing development. I chose a site in Surprise, Arizona. I wanted to explore a modern interpretation of Pueblo style architecture using rammed earth. I also wanted to restore parts of the site to its original natural state.

TURE

The furniture assignment is an amalgamation of assignments given in Intro to Architecture and 3-D Modeling. The exercise emphasized that architecture shares similar concepts with other fields such as furniture design. Scale and functionality were the design criteria. I wanted to address proportion and the repetition of similar but unique elements such as lines, curves and circles.

In this class we

learned the basic fundamentals of 3D CAD layout using AutoCAD’s basic 3D surfacing and solids modeling command structure. Accurender software was used to meet the rendering need of landscaping, light sources and material assignment. Microsoft Office products are used for editing and assembling the final raster images created during the rendering process.

Intro to Revit

This office building project was a intended to give us the chance to use the industry's leading 3D architectural modeling software. learning command concepts for creating 3D BIM models and how this model is used for automatic creation of floor plans, elevations, sections, and many other tedious drafting tasks.
