THREAD
Apr 01, 2016
T H R E A D
A: something continuous or drawn out.
B: a line of reasoning or train of thought that connects the parts
of a sequence.
Similar to thread, design remains the quintessential piece which
unifi es a whole; holding all things together. Its delicate existance
permeates landscape, culture, things physical, intangible, old,
new, good and bad. I believe design transcends both time and
space, possessing the potential to restore, adapt, and relate the
created back to its creator.

The former Esso building located at 1600 Meeting
street is being considered for renovation as a creative
work center. The development of this former oil con-
glomerate office building into a green, vibrant, and ac-
tive center for creative collectivism will provide an ideal
model for design study and procurement.

PREMISEThe market street extension, or
Union Pier corridor belongs to one
of Charleston’s most historical and
beloved point of interest . However,
this site is currently marked with
large asphalt paving and no true
landscape.

by the orginal landscape in which the by the orginal landscape in which the by the orginal landscape in which the

was able to weave the natual land-

comes the third largest populated
city in South Carolina. Because
of this, much waste and a large
carbon footprint is left behind. In
response to this notion, we created
a functional and graphic tailgating
device that potentially sustain the
Clemson experience.

Functionality is often an architectural staple
for successful design. However, the frequency
of beautiful function is often comprised. When
studying Glenn Murcutt, one wil l observe how
the beauty can come in the form of sensible
materials, ventilation techniques, and creative
circulation.
