This was a three part series assignment

that I created for the College of Southern

Nevada. The first part being the flyer

and the remaining two parts being an 11x14 info graphic

and poster. This was created in Photoshop

using various filters and the perspective tool. The paint effect

was created using my very own brush with a picture I took from our

Red Rock canyons.

Page 3: Portfolio 2013

This is the back of the 5x7 flyer, and it informed the audience about the various techniques used to create the actual design.

Graphic Communications

This is a re-design of my own Graphic Communication Degree Program. The challenging part of this assignment was to make it visually pleasing and simplify the actual degree. The target

markets were high school students, college students, and vocational workers.

Page 5: Portfolio 2013

This info graphic was a big inspiration allowing me to find my true self and making my decision simple to become emerged in the advertising field. I realized that the field of Graphic

Communications will gradually grow, and I am here to stay for the long run.

Printing workers produce print material in three stages: prepress, press, and binding and nishing. They review specications, identify and x

problems with printing equipment, and assemble pages.

Desktop publishers use computer software to design page layouts for newspapers, books, brochures, and other items that will be printed or put online. They collect the text, graphics, and

other materials they will need and then format them into a nished product.

Craft and ne artists use a variety of materials and techniques to create art for sale and exhibition. Craft artists create handmade objects, such as pottery, glassware, textiles, or other

objects that are designed to be functional. Fine artists, including painters, sculptors, and illustrators, create original works of art for their aesthetic value, rather than a functional one.

Graphic designers create visual concepts, by hand or using computer software, to communicate ideas that inspire, inform, or captivate

consumers. They help to make an organization recognizable by selecting color, images, or logo designs that represent a particular idea or identity

to be used in advertising and promotions.

Graphic Designers AAS/Ba $43,500

Drafters use software to convert the designs of engineers and architects into technical drawings and plans. Workers in production and construction

use these plans to build everything from microchips to skyscrapers.

Industrial designers develop the concepts for manufactured products, such as cars, home appliances, and toys. They combine art, business, and

engineering to make products that people use every day.

Multimedia artists and animators create animation and visual eects for television, movies, video games, and other media. They create two- and three-dimensional

models and animation.

Art directors are responsible for the visual style and images in magazines, newspapers, product packaging, and movie and

television productions. They create the overall design and direct others who develop artwork or layouts.

Advertising, promotions, and marketing managers plan programs to generate interest in a product or service. They work with art

directors, sales agents, and nancial sta members.

About 29% of Graphic designers choose to

remain self-employed and generate their

own income. The other 71% set their own path

Freelancers A freelance worker is somebody who is self-employed and is not committed to a particular employer long term. These workers are often represented by a company or an agency that resells their labor and that of others to its clients with or without project management and labor contributed by its regular employees. The logo concept was developed and based on cellphone technology. The name Linkcell was used because cellphones use a radio transmission to link to each other. The graphic user interface is easy to navigate and will

also be touch screen. Displays of the cellphone will be available in all angles.

Page 7: Portfolio 2013

The cellphone vending machine was given an electric look to

attract attention. The electricity was used because cellphones and accessories are powered

by it. The type used for display is Helvetica, being one of the

most legible typefaces.

Page 8: Portfolio 2013

In this re-brand project, I put the emphasis in the Rosati’s family tradition. Rosati’s is a fifth generation pizzeria which is why I incorporated it in the logo. By giving the logo a family crest, I believe it will be able to reach more consumers who understand the great importance of family. The concept for these advertisement layouts were to show how Rosati’s is here to stay for generations to come. These layouts were also compiled

using Adobe InDesign, and the logo was created mainly using the reflect tool in Adobe Illustrator.

Page 9: Portfolio 2013
Page 10: Portfolio 2013

I decided to create a gum label which mixed jam flavors with actual musical jams. The concept for this campaign is to introduce

classic music hits to a younger generation. The logo, front cover, and layout of this

product were created in Adobe Illustrator using the Pen, Rotate, and Offset Path Tools. The final touches and product display were

composed in Adobe Photoshop.

TriglyceridesKeeping thenumbers downNews about cholesterol is everywhere, and the general population is pretty knowledgeable about the role of cholesterol in the body and its damaging effects on health. Somewhat less understood is the role of triglycerides, which also are damaging to one's health. Triglycerides are the same form off at that is found in foods. They also are created by excess calories, vstored as fat in the body. Triglycerides usually are stored as fat in the body. However, some triglycerides are in the blood and responsible for atherosclerosis, which is the buildup of fat and cholesterol in the arteries. When excessive levels of triglycerides build up in the body, they raise health risks, including heart attack and stroke. Though ideal levels for triglycerides are under 100 mg/dl, risks for cardiovascular disease really begin at fasting levels of 150 mgldL or greater.

You will need to lower your cholesterol under medical supervision, in much the same way as a heart disease patient, in order to reduce your risk of getting heart disease.

Obesity/Overwieght

Age or older

According to the Natinol Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute, criteria for heart disease is as follows:

If you have diabetesyour risk for developing

heart disease is high

As high as a heart disease patient’s risk for having a heart attack

Smoking

High Blood Cholesterol

Diabetes

Low HDLHigh total cholesterol and high LDL(Bad) cholesterol

“Good” Cholesterol

Family History Of Early Heart Disease

Increasing activity and wieght loss by 10% may reduce triglycerides levels by as much as 22%

TRIGLYCERIDES LEVEL(mg/dL)

150 or below 150-199 200-499 500 and above

About 20% of all deaths from heart disease in the U.S. are directly related to cigarette smoking.

This is another info graph I designed for the National Heart, Lung, and Blood

Institute. Their mission is to build healthier lives, free of cardiovascular diseases and

stroke. The single purpose for this info graph was to inform young women and

men on the dangers of triglycerides.

These two posters were designed for the CSN Graphic Communication Design Exhibition 7.

Page 15: Portfolio 2013

The name of the show was “Dirty” and the theme was “Roots Deep”.

Page 16: Portfolio 2013

This was my personal poster in

my first gallery event at the CSN Graphic

Communication Design Exhibition. I titled it “Skies for

Eyes”. The concept was that in life I

have always liked being random and

spontaneous. The art and clouds represent

my randomness.

Page 17: Portfolio 2013

In this magazine layout, I used Adobe Photoshop with various filters. The objective for this magazine spread was to be on both sides of the argument without favoring the pro’s or the con’s of human cloning.

Page 18: Portfolio 2013

Wedged Dovetail

Page 19: Portfolio 2013

Most high-end wood working companies use the “Mortis and Tenon” method to build

quality cabinets and furniture. I incorporated this in the design of the logo, putting the emphasis

on quality. The method displayed in the logo and letterhead are known as the “wedged dovetail”

which was appropriate for this company.

Page 20: Portfolio 2013

King Auto Customs is an actual client of mine in which the love of crowns and money were incorporated into his company. The logo, letterhead, and

business card were all done using Adobe Illustrator.

First Choice Tree Service

My concept for the First Choice Tree Service logo was quick and simple.

The actual number one was combined with two swift movements to give the silhouette of an actual tree. The color

green was chosen to finalize the concept of a landscape service company.

Coldwell Banker is a real estate financial company that thrives on

customer service. The concept behind the logo was to show professionalism

and trust though the image of a pen tip being signed. As with any signature, it is personalized, consistent and shows

the approval of commitment.

Page 23: Portfolio 2013

I decided to make a logo from a popular saying that tourists often hear

while visiting Las Vegas. I used the spade as a popular symbol that is

associated with the game black jack.

This is a poker chip I created for the new and upcoming Echelon Hotel Casino. The concept was to illustrate the new casino

as a level of worthiness and achievement. The gold stripes symbolize wealth, and the red stripes and dots represent the

formation of groups or individuals.

Page 24: Portfolio 2013

Rock ‘n Roll wine produces monthly high energy wine events. The bottle was a special selection called Back Stage Pass. The

concept behind this wine bottle design was to attract people who listen to rock and roll and enjoy wine.

Page 25: Portfolio 2013

This magazine spread was inspired by one of my home town friends. The concept

of the double cut guitar was incorporated into the design and strings of his last name.

Page 26: Portfolio 2013

The Las Vegas Pinball Hall of Fame Museum has always been a very fun and favorite place

of mine to visit. I re-designed their logo and chose the classic Las Vegas theme colors for a Tournament of Champions poster. I also showed thev pinball with movement to exemplify the live action one has while playing a pinball machine. The billboard down below was targeted for Las

Vegas tourists.

Page 27: Portfolio 2013
Page 28: Portfolio 2013

This micro brew label was designed in great memory of my uncle Raul Rendon who recently passed away. The concept of our logo was derived from the chessboard set he

gave to me as a kid and how our favorite chess piece was the knight.

Chosen Three Designs was inspired by all the years I used to snowboard. The

concept came from the three elements a snow boarder

needs to ride all year: earth, wind, and water. By

eliminating fire or heat; a rider who is an extreme enthusiast

will choose to ride all year.

Page 31: Portfolio 2013

This poster was designed for The Smith Center. My concept was to involve the downtown involvement and movement.

Page 33: Portfolio 2013

The Smith Center’s first year anniversary was March 2013, and these two posters highlighted Jazz and Performing Arts.
