BIG SIR COMMENTS
MAY 2014
I’m sure everyone who heard Jerimiah
Pauley’s presentation on the Wounded
Warrior Project got the same message I
did. You can do anything you wish. It may
take a little push or a helping hand but it
can be done.
Our annual Ladies Day Picnic is set for

Site, Micke’s Grove. Tickets are $17.00
per person and will be on sale at the May

year.

dinner will be at, McHenry’s Bar and
Restaurant, 3121 W. Benjamin Holt,

I hope to see you there. I have enjoyed
everyone that I have attended, getting to

everyone attending. Take note of the
article on the Bucker Brigade by our
Bulletin editor Jack Lamberty. The
response was the hand we need to continue
without a formal dues structure.

IN MEMORY Sadly, there were two members of Branch 46 who passed away recently. Sir Carl Leach died on April 6. Carl was a long time member of SIR having joined Branch 46 in 2001. Sir Bob Patterson died in April and was also a long time member of SIR, having joined the branch in 2003. Our heartfelt sympathy and condolences go out to Carl and Bob’s family and friends at this sad time in their lives.
Bring a Friend, Win a Prize When you bring a friend (prospective new member) to a Branch 46 lunch meeting, you will receive FREE five 50-50 tickets. Good luck! ALSO, if your friend happens to join, then you will receive a free lunch.
In last month’s bulletin, in the discussion of the Branch cash flow problem, we incorrectly stated that the State assessment for each branch is $1.25/member/month. This is wrong. The actual assessment is $1.25/member/quarter. While this reduces the yearly total and the resulting assessment figures that were reported, it does not change our cash flow problem. As we said before, our assessment is based on total members, not just those attending meetings. Since Branch 46 attendance is hovering around 50%, members attending and, therefore, contributing to the Bucket Brigade represent only half of the members used in the State assessment. Another way of looking at this is if Branch 46 charged monthly dues (as some branches do) then only half of us would be paying.
We Requested - - - - -You Responded! At the April luncheon the average Bucket Brigade donation was $3.23/member. This is a significant increase over the member average of $2.32 for the first two months of the year. If we can keep the Bucket Brigade donations at this level or greater, AND those who miss a meeting contribute an extra amount at the next luncheon, then we’ll be on our way to significantly improving the financial health of our branch.
Please pay your “dues”! Support your local Bucket Brigade!
