PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Port security in simple terms refers to the security and law enforcement measures employed to safeguard a shipping port from terrorism and other unlawful activities and activists.
This training provides the participants with comprehensive knowledge to enable them to take on the duties and responsibilities as defined in the International Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
Practical case studies are used to illustrate possible measures to comply with the maritime security requirements.
This course meets the requirements of the ISPS Code, and the requirements specified in the IMO as they pertain to the security officers both onboard the vessel and onshore through company designations at the port facility.
This program consists of modules containing lecture content, skill assessments, participative discussions, video presentations and delegate exercises to create high impact training.Delegates will gain a good understanding of the ISPS Code and will acquire the skills needed to conduct comprehensive port security assessments, ensuring development, implementation, continued improvement, and maintenance of an effective port facility security plan.

Primarily aimed at those who may be designated to perform the associated duties and
responsibilities of a PFSO, as defined in section A/2.1.8 and section A/17.1 of the International
Ship and Port Facility Security (ISPS) Code.
Conduct an initial comprehensive security survey of the port facility considering the relevant port facility security assessment process.
Ensure the development and maintenance of the port facility security plan.
Implement and exercise the port facility security plan.
Undertake regular security inspections of the port facility to ensure the continuation of appropriate security measures.
Recommend and incorporate, as appropriate, modifications to the port facility security plan to correct deficiencies and to update the plan to consider of relevant changes to the port facility.
Enhance security awareness and vigilance of the port facility personnel.
Ensure adequate training has been provided to personnel responsible for the security of the port facility.
Report to the relevant authorities and maintain records of occurrences which threaten the security of the port facility.
Co-ordinate implementation of the port facility security plan with the appropriate Company and ship security officer(s).
Co-ordinate with security services, as appropriate.
Ensure that standards for personnel responsible for security of the port facility are met.
Assist ship security officers in confirming the identity of those seeking to board the ship when requested.
