Country: Liberia Capital: Monrovia. Languaje: Englisch

Life expectancy: 39 years

Liberia is a country founded by citizens of the United States as a colony for African slaves.

There is only one other state in the world created by citizens of a country to former slaves: Sierra Leone, which was created for the same purpose by the United Kingdom.

On 16 September 2005, Liberia acceded to the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, abolishing the death penalty, but reintroduced in July 2008

Page 12: Porfolio

The law allows execution for armed robbery, rape, terrorism

In Liberia, Senator Jewel Howard Taylor presented a bill to punish homosexual acts with death. Several people were sentenced to death in 2010

I am against the death penalty. Basically I am against it because I believe in God and one of his commandent states "YOU WILL NOT KILL/Murder."

I also believe that this is not a good solution to prevent or to reduce the crimes.

It has high cost to execute a criminal.

Other important fact is the risks of executing innocent people.

The systems are not perfect and someone can be convicted by mistake.

If the person goes to prison by mistake he or she can be released. If he is executed by mistake there is no way back, he will be already dead

When I read the newspaper and see news of horrible crimes I think different

for one short moment. Like for example, the ones that put the bomb in

the Boston Marathon. These killers deserve the death penalty. They killed

innocent people !. All the process to execute someone is very very expensive. It is cheaper to have somebody life in prison. Also it is better to spend money in security and avoid the crimes than to go into the process to execute someone.

Many countries approve the death penalty. Thanks God in Costa Rica we do not have it.
