Pronto para oír – Pronto para obedecer Quick to hear – Quick to obey

• 1:19 – “Por esto, todo hombre sea pronto (veloz) para oír” - Oír con gusto, con ánimo, con entusiasmo. Mat. 5:6, hambre, sed.

• 1:19 – “So then, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear” – Hear with pleasure, enthusiasm. Matt. 5:6, hunger…


• Ya hemos oído y obedecido al evangelio, v. 18, y ahora debemos ser prontos para continuar oyendo la palabra. Apoc. 2, 3.

• We have now heard and obeyed the gospel, v. 18, and now we should be swift to continue hearing the word. Rev. 2, 3.


• Debemos ser como los de Mar. 12:37, “le oía de buena gana”. Eran prontos para oír. Oír con gusto, con ánimo, con entusiasmo, con mayor placer, 2 Cor. 12:15.

• We should be like those of Mk. 12:37, “they heard him gladly.” They were swift to hear. Hear with pleasure, enthusiasm, with gladness, 2 Cor. 12:15.


• No “tardos para oír”, Heb. 5:11; 6:12 “perezosos” (misma palabra). Lento, torpe, indolente. No oír “pesadamente”, Mat. 13:15.

• Not “dull of hearing,” Heb. 5:11; 6:12, “sluggish” (same word). Slow, indolent, lazy. Not “hard of hearing,” Matt. 13:15.


• No tener “comezón de oír” solamente cosas agradables, 2 Tim. 4:3, 4; Isa. 30:9, 10.

• Not have “itching ears,” to hear only pleasing things, 2 Tim. 4:3, 4; Isa. 30:9, 10.


• No oír con oídos incircuncisos, Hech. 7:51. No oír sólo para criticar, acusar, atrapar al predicador, Mat. 12:10.

• Not hear with uncircumcised ears, Acts 7:51. Not hear only to criticize, accuse, trap the preacher, Matt. 12:10.


• Oír como Cornelio, Hech. 10:33. “Ahora, pues, todos nosotros estamos aquí presentes delante de Dios, para oír todo lo que el Señor te ha mandado.”

• Hear like Cornelius, Acts 10:33, “Now then, we are all here present before God to hear all that you have been commanded by the Lord."


• Cuidado de no estar distraídos e inatentos en la asamblea. Esto insulta a Dios. Indica que su palabra no merece nuestra atención completa.

• Be careful to not be distracted and inattent-ive in the assembly. This insults God. Indicates that His word does not deserve our complete attention.


• Muchos están fácilmente distraídos (niños hablando, llorando), gente levantándose, saliendo, entrando, platicando, jugando con aparatos electrónicos…

• Many are easily distracted (children talking, crying), people getting up, leaving, entering, talking, playing with electronic devices.


• O simplemente medio escuchando, sin el propósito de aprender y recordar. Debemos decir, “voy a aprender y recordar el estudio”.

• Or simply half listen, without the purpose of learning and remembering. We should say, “I am going to learn and remember the study.”


• No escuchar para aplicar la enseñanza a otros. “Buen sermón para hermano fulano, espero que esté escuchando”.

• Not listen to apply the teaching to others. “Good sermon for brother x, I hope he is listening.”


• Más bien, escuchar para poner la enseñanza por obra nosotros mismos, para aplicarla a nuestra vida primero y después enseñarla a otros.

• But rather, listen to put the teaching into practice ourselves, to apply it to our lives first and then teach it to others.


• ¿Por qué es tan importante ser buenos oyentes? Para ser bendecidos, Mat. 13:16, 17. Para tener fe salvadora, Rom. 10:17; Heb. 4:2.

• Why is it so important to be good listeners? To be blessed, Matt. 13:16, 17. To have a saving faith, Rom. 10:17; Heb. 4:2.


• Para llevar fruto, Luc. 8:15; Col. 1:4-6; para que no nos deslicemos, Heb. 2:1; para no ser rechazados, Mat. 10:14, 15.

• To bear fruit, Lk. 8:15; Col. 1:4-6; so we won’t drift away, Heb. 2:1; so we won’t be rejected, Matt. 10:14, 15.


• Tardo (lento) para hablar, en contra del mensaje, mostrar desagrado. Gál. 4:16. Tardo (lento) para airarse. Enojarse porque no le gusta el mensaje.

• Slow to speak, against the message, show displeasure. Gal. 4:16. Slow to anger. Get angry because doesn’t like the message.


• A veces los que oyen la palabra de Dios se molestan y aun se enfurecen, Hech. 7:54; 13:45.

• Sometimes those who hear the word of God become irritated and even furious, Acts 7:54; 13:45.


• Muchos se disgustan cuando se predica sobre temas controversiales. Por ejemplo, sobre el bautismo, la obra de la iglesia, el divorcio y nuevas nupcias, etc.

• Many get disgusted when there is preaching on controversial subjects. For example, baptism, work of the church, divorce and remarriage, etc.


• 1:20 -- porque la ira del hombre no obra la justicia de Dios. No hará la voluntad de Dios para obtener la justicia (justificación) de Dios. Hech. 13:46.

• 1:20 -- for the wrath of man does not produce the righteousness of God. He will not do the will of God to obtain righteousness (justification) from God. Acts 13:46.


• 1:21 Por lo tanto, desechando toda sucie-dad y la maldad que sobreabunda, recibid con mansedumbre la palabra implantada, la cual puede salvar vuestras almas.

• 1:21 Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.


• No rechazar la palabra con disgusto, descontento, resentimiento, sino recibid con mansedumbre la palabra implantada.

• Not reject the word with displeasure, dis-content, resentment, but rather receive with meekness the implanted word.


• Parábola del sembrador (oyentes). Predicar y enseñar son asuntos serios, pero también el oír es asunto serio.

• Parable of the sower (hearers). To preach and teach are serious matters, but also hearing is a serious matter.


• Luc. 8:4, “multitud”; ¿por qué? Curiosidad -- grupo atrae grupo; panes/peces; motivos políticos.. Y también gente sincera, v. 15.

• Lk. 8:4, “multitud”; why? Curiosity (crowd draws a crowd); loaves/fish; political motives… And sincere people, v. 15.


• La palabra tiene que ser bien “implantada”. Que no esté superficialmente en el corazón (como la semilla que cayó sobre la piedra).

• The word must be well “implanted.” Not just superficially in the heart (like the seed that fell on the rock).


• “Puede” – “dunamis”, “dinámico”, “dinamita”, fuerza inagotable. Creó el cielo y la tierra, calmó la tempestad, multiplicó panes y peces, que levanta a los muertos.

• “Able” – “dunamis,” “dynamic,” “dynamite,” inexhaustible force. Created heavens and earth, clamed tempest, multiplied loaves and fish, raises the dead.


• Por eso, Sal. 119:11, atesorar en el corazón para no pecar. Col. 3:16, que habite en abundancia en el corazón.

• Therefore, Ps. 119:11, treasure in the heart to not sin. Col. 3:16, let it dwell richly in the heart.


• 1:22 Pero sed hacedores de la palabra, y no solamente oidores, engañándoos a vosotros mismos. Luc. 6:46; Mat. 7:21.

• 1:22 But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. Lk. 6:46; Matt. 7:21.


• Ser “hacedor” obedeciendo al evangelio para obtener el perdón de pecados y también seguir obedeciendo para permanecer salvos, Gál. 5.7.

• Be “doer” obeying the gospel to obtain the forgiveness of sins and also continue obeying to remain saved, Gal. 5:7.


• Si piensa que con sólo oír la palabra está bien, debe preguntarse, “Con sólo ir con el médico y escuchar lo que él diga, estaré bien o tengo que hacer lo que él diga?”

• If you think that by only hearing the word you are all right, you should ask yourself, “By just going to the doctor and hearing what he says, will I be all right or do I have to do what he says?”


• Se engañan solos los que creen que basta con nada más oír la palabra sin obedecerla.

• They deceive themselves those who believe that it is enough to just hear the word without obeying it.


• 1:23 cuando alguno es oidor de la palabra y no hacedor de ella, éste es semejante al hombre (no mujer sino hombre) que mira su cara natural en un espejo.

• 1:23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man (not a woman but a man) observing his natural face in a mirror;


• 1:24 Se mira a sí mismo y se marcha, y en seguida olvida cómo era. Sólo echa un vistazo breve.

• 1:24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. He only glances briefly.


• Examinemos la vida, el habla, la actitud, el carácter, las finanzas… descubrir y eliminar faltas, para crecer y servir mejor.

• Let’s examine our life, speech, attitude, character, finances… discover and eliminate faults, in order to grow, serve better.


• No para emblanquecer los pecados (flaquezas psicológicas, culpar el ambiente, la pobreza, corajes son tendencias heredadas).

• Not to whitewash our sins (psychological weaknesses, blame environment, poverty, fits of anger are inherited tendencies)


• Sino mirar atentamente para detectar y desechar “toda inmundicia y abundancia de malicia”.

• But rather look intently in order to detect and eliminate “all filthiness and overflow of wickedness.”


• No recibir la palabra con resentimiento y enojo sino recibir con mansedumbre la palabra implantada la cual puede salvar el alma.

• Not receive the word with resentment and anger but receive with meekness the implanted word which is able to save your soul.


• 1:25 Pero el que presta atención a la perfecta ley de la libertad y que persevera en ella … será muy bendecido.

• 1:25 But he that pays attention to the perfect law of liberty and perseveres in it … will be greatly blessed.


• Ezeq. 33:30-32, “Vienen a ti como el pueblo acostumbra venir, y se sientan delante de ti como mi pueblo. Oyen tus palabras, pero no las ponen por obra”.

• Ezek. 33:30-32, “So they come to you as people do, they sit before you as My people, and they hear your words, but they do not do them…”


• “Y he aquí, tú eres para ellos como la canción de amor de uno que tiene una voz hermosa y toca bien un instrumento; oyen tus palabras, pero no las ponen en práctica”.

• "Indeed you are to them as a very lovely song of one who has a pleasant voice and can play well on an instrument; for they hear your words, but they do not do them.”
