Welcome!Join us at Polka this autumn and winter for new shows, classic adaptations and exciting events for all the family! We open the season with a showcase of young people’s opinions in our new show Sticks & Stones. Created using stories and words from young people, this is a unique performance and one not to be missed. Winter brings a tale of the seasons with an adaptation of everyone’s favourite riverside story, The Wind in the Willows. Early years have not been forgotten and we’ll be bringing Too Many Penguins? to the Adventure Theatre in a show full of humour, perfect for those wintry days. There’s much more besides with the Pop-up Polka Fair on the first Sunday of each month, Visiting Adventures for big and small children and Big Draw celebrations in October…

A celebration of books!Saturday 6 - Sunday 14 October 2012

Wimbledon BookFest takes place in venues all over Wimbledon including Polka Theatre. There will be events suited to all ages both young and old. This year sees the exciting new addition of a FilmFest running from 15 - 21 October.

August 2011. Riots are spreading. It’s summer, it’s hot and the entire country is holding its breath…

As events fly out of control, a group of friends are caught in the middle. Shaken by what they see and do, their friendship is tested like never before. What will happen when life returns to normal? And what are people saying about the ‘youth of today’?

Inspired and shaped by interviews with hundreds of children across the country, this explosive and thought-provoking new play invites young people to discuss what they thought about last summer’s riots. Their words, opinions and stories have been woven into the action, exploring the impact of what happened and what it means to be growing up in the UK today.

23 NOVEMBER 2012 - 16 FEBRUARY 2013 • MAIN THEATRE • APPROX 2 HOURS INC INTERVAL

Polka Theatre presents

A play with songs by Toby HulseBased on the novel by Kenneth Grahame

“Believe me, my young friend, there is nothing – absolutely nothing – half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats”

When Mole abandons spring-cleaning for the delights of the riverbank, he has no idea of the adventures that lie ahead. With Toad’s obsession for all things fast causing chaos (poop, poop!), it falls upon his friends Ratty, Mole and wise old Badger to save him. But that means coming face-to-face with the ferrets and weasels of the Wild Wood…

In this delightful adaptation of Kenneth Grahame’s classic story of friendship and bravery, this winter warmer will take you on a journey through the seasons. A wonderfully funny tale brought to life with music, songs and the usual Polka magic!
