The study was done last September and only covers Smart subscribers.

Pokemon Usage Volume (August)Pokemon Go was released in the Philippines on August 6, 2016. After release, it continued to spike and reached its highest peak at August 9.

After its peak, it displays a downward trend until the end of the month.

It got a downward spike on August 13 might be due to heavy rains.

In the previous graphs, it can seen that August 9 has the highest usage and users for Pokemon Go. This shows that at around 5pm to 6pm is the time that Pokemon Go reaches its peak.

Hourly Usage (Aug. Weekdays vs. Weekends)

weekdays weekendsThere are differences in terms of trend lines for weekdays and weekends. For weekdays, the line looks like a zigzag where in the usage increases at around 7am, 12pm, and 6pm. Interestingly, those are the times that people go to work, lunch break, and going home.

On the other hand, the weekend line just steadily increases, peaks at around 5pm and then decreases.

Pokemon Go HeatmapThe graph shows the daily heatmap of Pokemon Go.

In the first week, only a part of Luzon (mainly Metro Manila and Bicol) is mostly playing Pokemon Go. After that, the rest of the country follows.

Then eventually, it can be seen that usage is declining even in Metro Manila.

Pokemon User ProfilesIn the following slides, Pokemon users are matched using the existing profiles of Smart subscribers. These profiles are:

- Open Traditional (6,967,685 subscribers)- Mild (1,374,950 subscribers)- Heavy (141,149 subscribers)- Traditional (10,119,592 subscribers)- Fraud (125,047 subscribers)

Pokemon User ProfilesShown below is the distribution of Pokemon users in their respective profiles.

Open Traditional Subscribers takes most of the pie. This might be because large number of subscribers belong to this profile.

Pokemon User ProfilesFor better understanding, the graph below shows the percentage of each profile with respect to their total number of subscribers.

It can be seen that only a few percentage of subscribers in each profile uses Pokemon Go. Check out the next slide for a zoomed in graph.

Even though Pokemon Go users belong to Open Traditional, Mild has the largest percentage of subscribers that plays the game.

- Mobile Off-net Caller (53,996 subscribers in total)

- 11,010 used Pokemon Go (20.39%)- Baby Netizen (1,703,396 subscribers in total)

- 293,339 used Pokemon Go (17.22%)- Overseas Affiliate (2,860 subscribers in total)

- 189 used Pokemon Go (6.61%)- Fixed Off-net Caller (725 subscribers in total)

- 62 Pokemon Go (8.55%)

ConclusionIt can be seen in all graphs above that Pokemon already reached its peak and is already declining.

Pokemon Go is a big city-centric game. It appears in the heatmap that places like Metro Manila, Cebu, Iloilo, Bicol, Davao, Cagayan de Oro are where most people play.
