POINCIANA COMMUNITY
GROUP BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Poinciana Today
FEBRUARY 2020
PRESIDENT’S REPORT
by Lou Rodino
Dear Poinciana Residents,
It is with great sadness that I must inform you that the
Poinciana Men’s Club has closed its doors for good. (Please see the
Poinciana En-tertainment Central article in this issue) The Men’s
club has been a vital part of our life here in Poinciana for many
years. They have served our community well, bringing entertainment
on Sunday nights, Bingo on Wednesdays, trips to the casinos and
cruises. It is sad to see institu-tions’ such as the Men’s Club
close its doors. As for our future in bringing our residents the
type of activities that we have brought in the past, we need your
help. Our clubs and activi-ties cannot survive without the support
of our residents. We offer a very large variety of inter-ests.
Without the support of our residents we will not be able to
continue our programs. The Poinciana Community Group Inc. plans to
con-tinue the offering as much entertainment as our residents and
neighbors will support. However, we need your cooperation. Without
ticket sales we will not be able to offer quality shows. The
Poinciana Community Group will honor all tick-ets sold by the Men’s
Club for the for the 2019-2020 season. If you wish volunteer to
help or obtain additional information on events you may have
already planned on, call or visit the Poinci-ana Entertainment
Central office (formerly the Men’s Club office).
It is important that you check your building bulle-tin boards
weekly, see the posters in our lobby and check this newsletter each
month to keep up with what is happening at the Poinciana
Clubhouse.
Until next month be well, be happy, and be safe.

EDITOR’S NOTE
by Mark Roth and Ted Suss As you all know we have been improving
the ap-pearance of our clubhouse. In 2020, we will continue with
our improvement projects. One of the first will be to replace all
our common area carpeting (excluding the Poinciana Room) with vinyl
flooring. This is a significant project and we will have to endure
our old stained carpets for the season before it can be replaced in
the Sum-mer.
We have been receiving positive feedback about our newsletter.
For some time now, it has been produced each month (12 months of
the year) and available to each resident on a timely basis. Many
people enjoy the emailed version which appears in color and can be
received anywhere. The information that previously appeared on
Channel 63 is published in our newsletter. Addi-tionally, a Channel
63 Online page has been added to our website at www.poinciana.club.
Associations and clubs that previously sent in announcements to be
posted on Channel 63 may now submit these announcements via email
sent to [email protected]. The announce-ments must be sent either
as typed information in the email or attached as a Word or PDF
file.
All copy, articles and updated advertising must be submitted via
email to [email protected] and are due by the 15th of the
month before publication. Once your article is received, it will be
edited, and a copy of the edited version will be returned to you
for your review. This will be your acknowledgement of receipt of
your article and should be received by you within 72 hours of
submission. If you do not receive a confirmation within 72 hours,
please resubmit or call Mark Roth at (561) 228-8385.
Please note that each month, we send out an email reminding
those that submit articles for in-clusion in the newsletter to get
their articles in on time.
IN MEMORIAM
We now publish a list of those who have de-
parted in the past month. If someone in
your community has passed away since the
last newsletter, kindly send us an email at

name of the deceased and the community in
which they resided.
This month, we note with sadness the recent
passing of the following Poinciana resi-

POINCIANA PLACE CONDOMINIUM 3
by Ira Beckoff
Well the social season at Poinciana 3 is off to a wonderful
start. Sunday, January 12th began the good time with a Meet and
Greet Your Neighbors Party. The kickoff event was held under the
awning at our pool on a warm night in January. More than 75 owners
old and new attended. Beverages and snacks were prepared by the
party organizers. Our thanks go to the organizers Barbara Renna,
Louise O’Rourke, Stephanie Lewis and Fran Hood for plan-ning and
executing this delightful evening.
And lots more fun is being planned. We hope all owners at
Poinciana 3 will join in and enjoy these events.
Coming up: Saturday, February 8th, Night at the Races. $5.00
admission starts 4:00 PM. Food and drink provided, Contact Stephani
Lewis (914) 217-5161 to buy a horse.
Our Valentine’s Day Party, Tuesday at the February 11th BBQ, at
5:00 PM.
After the Do it Yourself Grilling there will be games to play
and dessert and coffee will be provided.
No last Sunday BBQ on Sunday Feb 21st. Everyone is cruising on
the high seas.
That will give you time to search for a baby or child-hood
picture of you or your spouse. On Tuesday, March 3rd after the DIY
BBQ join the fun for - Baby Picture Match Night. Match the baby
picture face to its current holder. Submit photos to Stephanie
Lew-is before the event. After the BBQ the party plan-ners will
provide dessert and drinks.
By the time you read this most of you will have al-ready met Mia
Casal, the young lady who has joined our maintenance staff. Her job
is to battle all dirt and debris and icky stuff that’s found from
the pool bathrooms to the elevators and our lobbies and walkways.
Her challenging job is to clean, re-move or vacuum up the
teeny-weeny spiders and their webs. The spider’s job is to make the
webs that catch the teeny little flying bugs that are attract-ed to
our walkways by our night lights. Seems like job security for Mia
and the Spiders.

Happy Valentine's Day to all!
The New Year's Eve Pool Party with The Ambas-sador was a huge
success. We all braved the windy evening with great appetizers
provided by our talented residents and had a fun time.
Now down to the serious stuff. Attention Resi-dents –
“Light-fingered Louie” or “Help-yourself-Hannah” have been
“borrowing” some of your things from our Storage Rooms on two,
three and four. Please check your storage room to see what is
missing from your things and notify the Man-agement office. Message
to “Light-fingered Lou-ie” and “Help-yourself-Hannah – RETURN the
things you borrowed without permission from the Storage rooms.
Owners – please advise your renters and or guests that if they have
a dog, that they may not walk their dog on the Golf Course. They
may not ride their bicycle on the Golf Course, nor should you
encourage them to FISH in the ponds due to possible Alligator
residents. They should be reminded that ANY entry upon the golf
course by anyone who is not a paid golfer constitutes criminal
trespass.
Reminder, our parking lot is not the Indy 500 racetrack; please
slow down. Also, unless you have obtained permission from parking
space owner, please do not just park in their space after they go
back up north.
If you borrow the Shopping Cart to bring up gro-ceries, please
return it and not leave it on the cat-walk so that others may use
it. Notices placed on the glass bulletin at the buildings entrance
is for the use of CMC only. If you need items posted, please bring
them to Unit 403 for posting in the big bulletin board.
Back to more pleasant stuff. Our BBQ's with The Ambassador will
continue
We are all hoping that by the time you read this there is good
news to report about Alex. As I write this, he is home from
intensive care and continuing the treatments that will help him get
back to work. Good luck to Alex and his family.
Until next month that’s it for Poinciana 3. ♛

AMBASSADOR by Pat Sullivan
Welcome back to Russ and Tuula, Pat and Tap, Al and Pat, Frank
and Shirley, Joe and Lynn, Ed-die, and Madeline and Mario. Welcome
to our new neighbors Sandy and Judith and Jean.
At our last Board meeting it was brought to my at-tention that
several of our residents were not aware of our Library located on
the second floor of the Clubhouse. All are invited to visit and
borrow a book or two. We observe the honor system so return the
books when you are finished (leave on the desk) and take some
more.
Last month we had our sprinklers inspected. We do this every
year in January in each Unit and on the outside of our building
including the garbage rooms on each floor. This is just one of the
measures we take to keep all our residents safe. As a reminder do
not touch the sprinklers inside your Unit. Only technicians from
Life Safety are permitted to work on the sprinklers.
The county has secured a contract with a new garbage and
recycling company, Goode. Gar-bage pick-up is on Monday, Wednesday,
and Fri-day. It is no longer necessary to call for bulk pick up.
They will pick up bulk household items on Thursday. Please do not
put your bulk pick up downstairs until after 6:00 PM on
Wednesday.
Mel's Way has a great line-up of entertainment for February and
delicious meal specials. Check out their menu for Valentine’s Day
and bring your sweetheart there for great food and good
enter-tainment.
The golf course is looking great. Thank you, Isa-belle and Rick,
for doing such a great job. It is wonderful to see so many people
using our golf course. There will be an Appreciation Tourna-ment of
February 24th. The cost is only $25.00. Please sign up at the Pro
Shop. Please remem-ber that only those golfing belong on the golf
course. This is not a park. Please do not tres-pass or allow your
guests to walk on the course.
Hope to see many of our residents at our Monday night Bar-B Q.
On Monday, January 27th we will be having lunch catered by our
favorite Chinese Restaurant. Please see Shirley if you plan to
at-tend.
Happy Valentine's Day to all. ♛

CARLISLE CHATTER
by Lynn Sands
February has arrived with cooler weather. Our
snowbirds are all here and settled in. Carlisle is
fortunate to have brand new working elevators to
handle the additional traffic of the winter season.
Our residents are adjusting to the updated Com-
cast equipment. It does take time to get accus-
tomed to its’ many features, but the new cable
box gives us quick access to so much entertain-
ment. Hurrah to modern technology!
Carlisle had our yearly New Year’s Day Brunch
at poolside, followed by a Chinese Auction. Ba-
gels, cheese spreads, salads, coffee and lus-
cious desserts were served. The auction was
fun as always. Everyone who attended had a
good time.
Our Social Committee is planning a Mariachi
Party on Wednesday, February 5th at Casa Lin-
da, a Mexican Restaurant in Lake Worth. The
restaurant offers Mexican and Cuban specialties
at reasonable prices. Carlisle residents should
add their names to the signup sheet posted by
the mailboxes. Deadline for signup is Sunday,
February 2nd. The social committee is hoping
for a good attendance.
Board member Terrie Charles and husband Wal-
ter report they had spotted an owl on Carlisle’s
second floor catwalk. The bird was rail sitting
and looking down. Good hunting to you, our noc-
turnal neighbor!

POINCIANA ENTERTAINMENT
CENTRAL by Mark Roth
Poinciana Entertainment Central was formed by the Poinciana
Men’s Club in an effort to con-tinue providing entertainment
opportunities to the residents of Poinciana. Operating through the
Men’s Club results in some overhead costs that are unnecessary to
providing quality enter-tainment. In order to save unnecessary
over-head costs and continue to provide quality en-tertainment
opportunities, the Poinciana Enter-tainment Central and the
Poinciana Community Group have joined forces. At the request of
Men’s Club, Poinciana Community Group has decided to acquire Men’s
Club so that it can continue to operate Poinciana Entertainment
Central as a standing committee of Poinciana Community Group.
Commencing on February 1, 2020, or very soon thereafter, the
Men’s Club will cease to exist as a separate entity. Poinciana
Entertain-ment Central will continue to do business from the former
Men’s Club offices. All Poinciana Entertainment Central activities
scheduled through April 2020 will be held as advertised.
Thereafter, Poinciana Entertainment Central will continue to
arrange and schedule entertain-ment opportunities for our residents
to enjoy. All residents of Poinciana (and their invited guests)
will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for every Poinciana
Entertainment Cen-tral function. Nonresidents will have the
oppor-tunity to purchase tickets to Poinciana Enter-tainment
Central activities sometime after ticket sales were available for
residents.
There will be several subcommittees of Poinci-ana Entertainment
Central, each dedicated to organizing a different type of
entertainment. For example, one subcommittee might focus on casino
trips. Another might work on day trips to other destinations, and
yet another might work on activities to take place at our
clubhouse.
While the current Men’s Club leadership and volunteers will
initially operate these subcom-mittees, there is a need for
additional subcom-mittee members. All residents of Poinciana

Welcome back snowbirds. You’ll see that we’ve made lots of

Bocce league is in full season. We play every Saturday at 10:00
AM. Everyone is welcome to join. If you can roll a ball you can
play bocce. We choose names at random to keep it fair. We compete
against the Hamlet teams and plans are in the works for a challenge
match against Lucerne Lakes later in the season. So, come to the
bocce court located near our condo pool and join the fun. The bocce
court is always available for practice. See you there!
You still have time to setup your FREE Com-cast installation.
Call them at 1-800-COMCAST for details and to setup your

Maintain your Condo! Every home requires regular maintenance and
condominiums are no exception. Dryer vents should be cleaned out
regularly as they become clogged with lint. This makes drying your
clothes take longer as has the potential of causing a fire. Wax
seals under your toilets and hot water heaters should be replaced
every 10 years. A/C filters need to be replaced monthly all year
long. If you are not a year-round resident, someone should be
checking your condo weekly and never go away without turning off
your water.
All these hints will help to reduce damage to your own condo and
those around you.
Checkout all the newly decorated lobby at the Clubhouse. Many
other projects are under-way. Details will appear in upcoming
newslet-ters.
Activities in the clubhouse are brought to you year-round by the
Poinciana Community Group, Poinciana Entertainment Central, La-dies
Social Club and Hadassah; so, enjoy all that Poinciana has to
offer. The clubhouse has pool tables, ping pong tables, card rooms,
an updated library and much more. There are rooms available in the
clubhouse for other meetings and events. Check at the Activities
Office for details.
Please continue to support our Golf Course and Mel’s Way Bistro.
Mel’s Way is open Tuesday-Saturday and available for private
parties on Sundays and Mondays as well.
Check your bulletin boards for their entertain-ment schedule.
The golf course is open every day during season. They both bring

Please do your part to respect our home and keep it up nicely.
If you see a neighbor mov-ing something in the elevator, throwing a

DORCHESTER CONDO
by Marilyn Siegel
Can you believe the first month of a new dec-ade has ended? We
celebrate what has gone by and look to the issues before us.
The Dorchester had a great Holiday Party down by our pool. The
main dishes and decorations were made by Rosemary Dillman and her
sister Carol Carlson. Thank you, ladies. As always, the food was
sumptuous and generous! Won-derful homemade side-dishes and
desserts were contributed by others in our condo.
Before we had a chance to lose any weight from our Holiday
Party, Mary Jones organized a pot-luck luncheon, with help from her
hubby Ron to man the grill. It was a friendly way to start the new
year off right. A personal note of thanks to Della Spadafora for
bringing a full pot of coffee along with all her other treats.
We continue to welcome back snowbirds. They include Lee Ambrose,
and, Frank and MaryEllen Impastato.
At our first 2020 Board of Directors Meeting we failed to
achieve a quorum to vote in a new Board. The next meeting will be
Tuesday, Feb-ruary 11th, at 11:00 AM poolside. If you have not
already submitted your vote for the new Board members; it is
essential that you, or your proxy, send in that vote prior to the
next meet-ing. In the interim, the existing Board members will
remain in their positions.
Meanwhile, work to maintain our building goes on. Twenty
electronic sensors were replaced. The sensors are important for our
safety and security as they control the exterior lighting around
the outside of the building. White fly treatment was done as part
of the new years’ service. A new canopy has been ordered for the
pool area. Choices for replacement of the canopy fans is under
consideration.
And finally, a word about Comcast/Xfinity. Feb-ruary 1st is the
last day to get free installation of the new upgraded equipment. If
you haven't made an appointment yet, make that appoint-
ment NOW! ♛
HAMLET
by Russ Donnelly As President of what I believe to be the best
as-sociation in Poinciana, I wish to thank all our res-idents that
attended our annual meeting on Jan-uary 12, 2020 at Mel's Way. It
is always nice to see many of our residents together in one place.
The meeting was I believe a great success. The give and take
between the Board and the resi-dents was very enlightening for all.
The Hamlet wants to extend their thanks to Mel's Way for their
hospitality, and courtesy, in providing a great atmosphere for our
Annual Meeting.
A thank you was extended to Marlene Meyers for her service on
the Board and her past service as President. The new Board was
announced with the return of past Board members Russ Donnelly, Joe
Malka, Wayne Farrow, Harvey Tabachnick, and our new member Arturo
Matiz. A special thanks to Helen Malka for acting as our temporary
Secretary and taking the neces-sary minutes.
We are looking forward to a great year here at the Hamlet. At
the conclusion of our annual meeting the Hamlet Ladies Club saluted
their outgoing members and inducted their new lead-ers. Lucky for
the Hamlet they have been very active with socials at the pool and
have great events planned. Be sure to read the announce-ments on
our bulletin board.
2020 should be a great year for the Hamlet simply because we
have completed all our major projects and it will be a year of
enhancing our surroundings which has always been a pet pro-ject of
mine. Resident concerns or suggestions should be placed in the
white mailbox outside

It’s February already! January flew by and proba-bly so did the
new year’s resolutions most people made. For me, the beginning of
each month brings us an opportunity to begin anew. In this troubled
world, even one small action can change someone’s life. At the
beginning of each month, quarter, week or day, resolve to do one
thing to help someone. visit a lonely neighbor, help a friend who
requires assistance to grocery shop, phone someone who lives alone,
volun-teer, pay for coffee for a stranger, be kind to a salesclerk,
pay it forward. The ideas are endless and if we all did one thing,
what a better place our world would be.
The Social Committee held a Chinese dinner on January 19th which
was well attended. The much-loved Italian dinner returns in
February and details will be posted on the bulletin boards. Join us
for a great meal!
Former resident, Iris Schnipper, who now resides in North
Carolina, returned for a week’s visit to see her many friends at
Essex. The talk and wine were flowing! It was wonderful to see Iris
again!
Many residents have asked when we will be completing the
painting of the handrails. We can-not do this until the weather
improves. It has been too rainy. We want to get the work finished
but want to have it done correctly. In a January workshop, the
Board has begun work on a five-year plan for other projects. As we
begin work on the North elevator, everyone’s patience will be
tested as this job will take weeks to be complet-ed. The result
will be well worth it so let’s all hang in there. Elevator work
updates will be posted on the bulletin boards.
Dates to remember:

February 17 – President’s Day

Dear Poinciana,
Happy February and best wishes for a Happy Valentine’s Day! I’m
happy to report that Janu-ary’s statistics were very good for our
communi-ty. I am again urging everyone to keep their car doors
locked. Some people have called the Sheriff because their cars were
rummaged through but neglected to lock the car doors. If you see
anything suspicious call 911; do not hesitate to call.
We are always looking for more volunteers, es-pecially since our
force is “aging” and needs re-placing. If we continue regular
patrols our com-munity will stay safe.
Feel free to call any of our officers with questions or
concerns.
Stay safe!
Take care and be safe, Lt. Barbara Crespy (215) 813-7053 Cpt.

LADIES’ SOCIAL CLUB by Nancy Cook
I would all like to thank Sandy Wolf and Joan Vis-conti for the
Lovely Holiday Party. You both did a won-
derful job.
The months are flying by and the women are busy with some great
ideas. For February we have a different event that everyone should
enjoy. We’re having our first condo tour on February 18th. We have
several residents who are willing to open their condos up for the
tour. It’s always fun to see the different style and the design the
homeowner has done. On Feb. 11th to Feb 17th you can pick up the
list of Condos with their address that are on the tour. You will
also get a ribbon that you must wear the day of the tour; it’s your
ticket to get on the tour. A check for $5.00 is required. You can
pick eve-rything up at the Clubhouse Office.
After you finish the tour you are invited to come back to the
Clubhouse in the Poinciana
Room for a delicious ice cream Sunday. ♛

Hoping everyone had a very happy holiday cel-ebrating with
family and friends. I saw many of our owners with their visiting
family members using our pool and enjoying our great weather. We
welcome all of you.
By the time you receive this newsletter, our January 27, 2020
Annual Meeting will have tak-en place. We did not have candidates
over the number needed for the Board, therefore, no election will
be held for the Board of Directors for our Association or the
Community Board.
Our new Board will consist of (in alphabetical order) Linda
Barnaby, Dorothy Coutsakis, Tony Iocovangelo, Octavio Mateo, Lou
Rodino, Gary Rubenstein. We want to welcome our newest Board
member, Bruce Lapidus.
At the meeting we gave out the decals for cars to the people who
have submitted the correct paperwork. We will begin stickering
illegally parked cars beginning February 15, 2020. This means you
will have to display your decal in the rear windshield of your car
and be in the correct parking space assigned to you.
We have received many complaints that the
service/therapy/support animals are being walked on our property
without leashes. You must have your animal on a leash while on our
property.
Please be considerate of your neighbors and do not park in the
handicapped parking spaces if you live here. These spaces are for
visitors who are handicapped or to pick up and drop off those
living here who are handicapped.
I hope you all were able to attend the meeting to exchange ideas
and hear the new things we have planned for the coming year. Our
dates for the monthly meetings will be posted.
In the meantime, enjoy all that the Best Kept Secret in Palm
Beach County has to offer at

HADASSAH FASHION SHOW
by Annette Remer Bluestein
Time is almost upon us; Thursday, February 6th.
We've had a wonderful response of models. In fact, too many and
Diane and I apologize that we had to call several and cancel their
model-ing. In the past we would call and ask for mod-els. It's the
first year, it's been in the Community paper.
It's the first year I have asked jewelry designers at an Art
Fair for a donation and I have received several pairs of beautiful
earrings (to $89 in val-ue). There's a large art fair this coming
week, as I write this column. I hope to get more gifts of
jewelry.
CSI had donated several beautiful gift baskets. We have gift
cards from restaurants, too. If any-one wants to purchase raffle
tickets. please call Joan Apteker at (561) 439-0927. They are 6.00
for $5.00. You don't have to attend the Fashion Show to win.
If you haven't paid to come to the Fashion Show, you have
another couple of days left. Everyone is welcome! Please join
us!

THE PATIO HOMES
by Ruth Ruttkay
February is here already and now that we've packed away all our
Holiday decorations, it's time to enjoy this wonderful South
Florida weath-er!
Unfortunately, we had some uninvited guests in our community in
the middle of the night in early January. As captured on Tony's
video camera (thank you for sharing, Tony!) three persons in a late
model dark small SUV, all wearing black hoodies one with white
pants possible a skinny girl as a portion of her face showed very
briefly. They entered the neighborhood at about 3:20 AM and they
went door to door checking cars. None showed their face toward
cameras. They drove around neighborhood twice before exiting the
car. They looked for lights on in houses be-fore entering yards or
driveways. They stopped in front of one resident's home and broke
into their car before going to the north end of commu-nity. They
didn’t miss a road. They were done and left the area at 3:31 AM.
They didn’t seem to approach cars in front of homes with inside
lights burning all night. Take note, that It was very clear they
were cautioned by lights on in the houses.
From what I was told, the police caught the cul-prits later in
the night in another area of town do-ing the same thing. Some
stolen articles were recovered.
Getting on to some fun things, remember our BBQ is open at our
pool to residents on Wednes-days from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, be sure
to bring your own food and drink. Also, don't forget to check the
bulletin board at the pool and since Channel 63 was eliminated.
Also, check out the website www.poinciana.club (go to the tab
Chan-nel 63 online) for all the updates and happenings in our
community.
Please keep Gene Graves, Marilyn Alpern, and MaryAnn Ferretti in
your thoughts and prayers.

PRESIDENT’S REPORT by Dennis Berman
For our residents that did not attend the Club Meeting on
January 8, 2020, I am submitting this report so you will be aware
of the upcoming changes as the Poinciana Community Group (PCG) will
acquire the Poinciana Entertainment Central (PEC) from the Men’s
Club which will go out of business. PEC will become a standing
committee of PCG and operations will continue as usual through
April. This was done to the over-head expense associated with
operating a corpo-rate entity so that PEC can continue to offer our
residents the Showtime series, Travel trips, Club-house activities
such as Party Nights, Bingo, .Bowling and more.
The (PEC) funds that are generated from our ex-isting Showtime
Reserved Seat Program will be our primary fund raiser. Your support
by purchas-ing reserved seats for our 2021 shows will allow us to
guarantee the best entertainment available for the South Florida
Market during the winter season. Reserved seats are now on sale in
the office and your choice of seats is done on a first come-first
served Basis. Season tickets are on sale now. Come in and buy yours
for our fantastic 2021 shows.
PEC is run by committees and we encourage both men and woman
residents to come to our office and submit your name for a position
on se-lected committees such as Entertainment, Travel, Clubhouse
Activities and Special Events such as our Cruise and Christmas
Pageant.
I will be staying on to help form these committees until after
this season which ends in April. I want to thank all the residents
for the opportunity to serve the 3½ years as the club President and
meet the many new friends I have made during my term. I hope many
of you will volunteer to give back to the community by joining one

Our big news happening is our annual kickoff luncheon meeting to
be held on Sunday, Janu-ary 19th in the Poinciana Room. This event
will be behind us by the time this article reaches print. Even
though this event is used to conduct a little business, we still
make it a fun time.
We start off right at Noon with our wonderful food buffet
prepared by Mel's Way, conduct our business and then move to
planned entertain-ment. Remember the hula hoop? Well we are holding
a contest to find a winner with both men and women participants.
Truly, everyone is a winner who is brave enough to get up on the
dance floor and hula hoop. We have some pret-ty good contestants.
The winner will be judged by applause. We will announce our winner
in the next newsletter.
Our seasonal players joining us since our last issue are Carol
Ginsburg, Terri LoPrimo, Mimi Mosho, Robert Raifman, Peter Reese,
Gene Rizzo, Raimo Tiainen, and Guy Williams.
When the tennis court gate is locked, a courtesy key for
Poinciana residents' daytime use may be obtained at the golf course
office and is to be immediately returned after use for entry.
We invite Poinciana residents to join us at the courts on
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays

Pilates: Monday and Wednesday at 9:00 AM (with Shannon)
Mat yoga meets three times each week. Yoga increases balance and
flexibility. No experience is necessary as the teachers encourage
stu-dents to work at their own level. They demon-strate postures in
several ways to prevent injury while allowing options for differing
ability levels.
If you are daunted by mat yoga, try chair yoga on Tuesday at
9:30 AM. Postures are done for flexibility and stretching without
getting on the floor.
Pilates focuses on core muscles, that is, every-thing from the
neck to the thighs. The muscles become stronger yet remain lean and
flexible. We have been using light weights (1-3 lbs.), balls,
bands, and magic circles. Shannon is al-ways looking to keep the
class interesting.

and movement heals.”

(That includes two cleanings a year.) That would boost your
monthly assessment by about $8.00/month. This is an expense that
the Board wishes to avoid, but the driveways in several cases are
not being maintained. So, something must be done. One possible
solution to help homeown-ers with this chronic problem is for the
Associa-tion to contract with a Pressure Cleaning compa-ny to
provide this service at a discounted rate. Residents could sign up
for a cleaning and when the number of signups reached an agreed
upon threshold the discount would be applied, and cleanings could
be scheduled. If you are inter-ested in learning more leave an
email for the Board on our community website.
This is a Census year. In that vein, get ready be-cause our
Townhomes Census is coming your way. We need the information to
maintain our status as a 55+ community. We also need to lay the
foundation for better managing parking in our community. We want
everyone and their guests to have the opportunity to find safe
plac-es to park their vehicles in our neighborhood. To that end we
need to know who is driving and what vehicles they have. We would
appreciate your timely response to the survey. If you have any
questions or concerns, you can contact management and the Board at
our website (listed below).
Our next regular Board Meeting will be held on Tuesday, February
11th at 7:00 PM in the Ter-race Room on the second floor of the
clubhouse at 3536 Via Poinciana, Lake Worth, FL.
Our web site (www.pptha.org) is a valuable re-source of those
who use it and for the Board. Stay up to date by visiting our web
site regularly. While there, use the link at the bottom of the page

Please report any concerns or necessary repair-sthat we may not
be aware of by using the “Send Email to Management & Board”
link on the left side of the page. This link is the best way to
report a problem as the message is delivered to our property
manager, assistant property manager, and each of your five Board
members.
If you have a topic that you would like the Board to consider
during one of our Board Meetings,
POINCIANA PLACE TOWN HOMES by Michael Reardon
By the time you read this, you should have al-ready removed any
exterior holiday decorations and anyone that changed the bulb in
their lolly-pop lamp should have reinstalled the community standard
bulb.
I have mentioned previously that the Board in-tends to take a
more active role in enforcing our Bylaws and Declarations. Now that
our new amendments are in place, we have begun that process.
Recently the Board has begun to draw up specific Rules and
Regulations and Architec-tural Guidelines. We wish to address
several is-sues that we previously have not been able to
manage.
For example, the Board has received numerous complaints about
residents leaving their trash cans and recycle bins in plain sight
all through the week. Most residents have worked hard to beautify
their homes, and unsightly trash cans make the neighborhood look
shabby. By this time, it should be clear to everyone that trash
cans and recycle bins should be placed curbside no earlier than
7:00 PM the night before pickup; and put away no later than 7:00 PM
the day of pickup. Furthermore, all trash other that yard waste
must be placed in the trash can provided by the Solid Waste
Authority. No action has been taken until now because of the
problem with the oversized cans, and the Holidays. It is time to
communicate to chronic offenders that they must place their trash
cans out of sight of their neigh-bors. Warning letters have begun
to be issued to those who leave their trash cans where others can
see them. If the warning is not heeded a fine of up to $100.00/day
will follow. There will be no second warning to chronic
abusers.
When it comes to keeping our community beauti-ful another
chronic problem is moldy driveways. This issue has been discussed
at several Board Meetings. Until now the Board has maintained that
owners are responsible for maintaining their own driveway. The
alternative is to increase our monthly assessment to have the
Association pay for the power washing of the driveways; which would
be about $5,000.00 to $6,000.00 per year.

of the desk. Returned books should be placed on the desk. Please DO
NOT return the books to the shelf. We are happy to do that for
you.
Over the last several months we have pur-chased about 30 new
hard cover and paper-back books for the library. About 15/20 of
these have been out of circulation for about 5 weeks. We have
requested that only ONE new book be taken at a time so that others
will have an opportunity to enjoy them. There is a red dot of the
binder of the book with the word NEW written. Please check your
books and if our have more than one NEW book please return it to
the library ASAP. Thank you for
your consideration. ♛
please use the Send Email to Management & Board Link at the

CHAI HADASSAH
VISITS THE WICK
by Annette Remer Bluestein
Mark your calendars, Thursday, May 7, 2019, we have arranged for
a fabulous tour. "Unlike any-thing we've seen before, the Costume
Tour is an astounding exhibit of the finest costumes ever brought
to the Broadway stage" The tour will be led by "knowledgeable and
entertaining theatre professionals who will give us a remarkable
'behind-the-scenes' look at the costumes."
Many chairs will be available for shortstops, as we tour.
For lunch will be "dining" at the Wick's wonderful re-creation
of New York’s famous Tavern-on-the-Green. There are Crystal and
amber chande-liers. We will be eating on china, silver, and
crys-tal that many of us New Yorkers and visitors dined on at the
restaurant. It will be a memorable experience.
And, there is more. If we have, at least, 40 peo-ple, we will
have a cabaret performance after lunch and Marilyn Wick will tell
us the story of The Wick. And, there is even more to see there.
Our Hadassah Chapter did this in 2015 and I'm sure all those who
came will be excited to be there again. I believe we had 60 men and
wom-en at that time. Let's even do better this time.
The cost is $60.00, which includes a $5.00 tip to each
waiter.
For information call Annette Remer Bluestein (561) 641-1381.
Checks should be made payable to Chai Hadassah and should either
be placed in the Hadassah Box in clubhouse office or mailed to
Diane Femia ((561) 649-2886) at 3035 Straw-flower Way, Lake Worth,
Fl 33467.
Any profit we make goes to Hadassah Hospital in Israel, which is
one of the 10 best hospitals.
They work with all major hospitals in the US. ♛
