Kodak NexPress Solutions enable print service providers to meet the demands of the new digital world, complement existing offset business and improve the bottom line. Scaleability and upgrade options available for all categories—B&W and color—enable Kodak’s customers to fully leverage their investments. Color Category Positioning The Kodak NexPress Digital Color Platform lets print service providers meet current and future demands to increase client acquisition, retention and customer satisfaction with a wide range of shorter-run, quick turnaround, offset class printing from a cut sheet color digital press. Our open workflow solutions, flexible software and hardware components enable us to deliver an innovative foundation of essential technologies upon which to build a customer’s business. 1. Image Quality: Kodak offers offset class quality with a 20% expansion on color gamut over traditional 4C litho process. Durability and taber results for Kodak NexPress Presses exceed competitive, and specifically HP, prints. 2. Productivity: HP charges extra click charges when printing more than 4 colors. HP also requires press slow down for additional colors, which results in increased labor costs and decreases productivity. 3. TCO: HV - Modularity/scaleability, productivity, reliability and sheet size are all press features that create a positive TCO for our customers. The ROI calculation tool is a great tool to clearly show this advantage in cost and revenue opportunity to our customers and prospects. MV - For production print volumes in the 100-200,000 range, the mid volume product provides favorable TCO compared to light production engines (less than 100K). 4. Environmental: NexPress Dry Inks are de-inkable, recyclable and contain no VOC’s. 5. Sheet Size: HV - Xerox iGen has a slightly larger sheet size (364 x 521 mm - Standard). Kodak and Xerox have advantages over HP when comparing sheet size, which makes a significant difference on imposition and number up on a sheet. This is a major TCO advantage of Kodak’s. 6. Workflow: Kodak has the most comprehensive workflow solution and also has roots in traditional print and photographic solutions that allow workflow components to be leveraged, as opposed to reworked or re-learned. 7. Scaleability: Kodak offers upgrade solutions so investment dollars are leveraged. The S-Series offers upgrade options that do not require forklift change outs, maximizing ROI and minimizing workflow interruption. Black & White Category Positioning The Kodak Digimaster EX Series delivers premier image quality, best in class productivity, modular design, robust performance and benchmark reliability to meet the high demands of the cut sheet B&W production print market. The Digimaster EX Series is designed for print providers that are trying to improve turnaround time, enable a print-on-demand flexibility and deliver high quality, finished documents that meet their clients’ demand for differentiated, value added documents. 1. Image Quality: Digimaster System’s 600 dpi is lower than the competition, but imaging science enhancements (LED imaging technology and Small Particle Developer (SPD) provide advantage vs. Xerox and Océ. Another area of advantage is the Digimaster System’s “write black” vs. Xerox’s “write white” technology. Océ output is prone to toner rub-off issues. 2. Productivity: Competitive product slows down with heavier stocks and / or larger sheets. Xerox slows down at peak image quality (1200 dpi). Digimaster System’s short, straight paper path and air knife / vacuum feed provides advantages in paper supply. 3. Sheet Size: The Digimaster System has the largest maximum paper size (364 x 470 mm) vs. Océ (320 x 488 mm) and Xerox (320 x 470 mm). 4. Workflow: The Digimaster System has comprehensive workflow solutions. Our DFE is based on an open architecture, which allows flexibility that competitors cannot match. 5. Scaleability: The Digimaster Platform is modular, which allows customers to leverage their investment in equipment and accessories. The Digimaster System is the only B&W product that can be upgraded to 300ipm (E and EX series only). 1 Image Quality + + 0 + 0 + 0 2 Productivity ++ – 0 + 0 + – 3 TCO + 0 + + + + 0 4 Environmentally Friendly ++ –– ++ ++ ++ ++ ++ 5 Sheet Size + 0 ++ 0 0 0 0 6 Workflow ++ + + ++ + – – 7 Scaleability ++ – + + 0 0 0 Kodak NexPress High Volume Presses HP Indigo Presses Xerox iGen Presses Kodak NexPress M700 System Xerox DocuColor 7000 System Canon C7000 System Konica Minolta 6501 System Competitive Comparison—Color Competitive Comparison—B&W 1 Image Quality ++ + + 2 Productivity ++ + + 3 Sheet Size ++ – – 4 Workflow ++ – – 5 Scaleability +++ – – Kodak Digimaster Systems Xerox Nuvera Systems Océ Vario Systems Kodak NexPress Digital Color Platform and Kodak Digimaster EX Production Systems Pocket Guide to Electrophotographic Digital Printing To learn more about solutions from Kodak: Visit graphics.kodak.com Produced using Kodak Technology.
