COMMUNICATION REMINDER
To ensure that parents and carers do not miss out on any vital information we
encourage ALL parents and carers who have an iPhone (App Store), Android (Play
Store) or Windows device to down load the Skoolbag App (FREE).
The App allows either the classroom teacher or school administration to forward you information
in a convenient timely manner. There is no issue of notes being lost or stuck at the bottom of a
schoolbag.
Once fully operational you will receive and be able to access: upcoming events, newsletters,
information pages, permission notes, links to website pages, parent eForms for sick note/absent
and change of details and much more.
A key feature is the instant alerts we can send to remind the whole-school or just a grade of
students of a particular school event or request.
To be able to access information only related to your child’s grade you need to:
Once downloaded- Go to the home page-tap the 3 bars in the top left hand corner/ Tap
on Setup/ Choose your grade(s) and slide the button to ON.
The following link provides details of how to install the app if you have any trouble.

GREAT TIPS FOR HEALTHY KIDS TIP 9 TV CAN BE A FRIEND OR AN ENEMY TV can be a good educator. It can also be a great entertainer and, as every parent knows, it can be a cheap babysitter and provide company for kids if they are on their own. However, the benefits of TV can be cancelled out by the harm that it can do. Many children watch many hours of television each week. This means that they are: sitting passively for long periods of time; snacking as they watch; and exposed to ads for highly-processed foods, often high in fat and sugar.
What you can do NOW Establish good TV habits in your home” limit your child’s
TV viewing to one hour per day on weekdays; avoid having the TV on during daylight hours; and record some shows to watch later and eliminate the ads.
Remove the remote control. At least changing the channels mean getting up and moving.
Have just one TV in the house.
Good Idea!
Plan the week’s viewing ahead of time. Look through the TV guide together and choose suitable pro-grams. When you watch, discuss aspects of the program with your kids.
Top Tip
Avoid having a TV in your child’s rom. Studies show that kids in families who often watch TV during meals eat more of the highly advertised foods like piz-za and salty snacks, and less fresh healthy food.
This “Beanz Meanz” vegetarian recipe is a great way to encourage kids to eat beans.
It is packed full of fibre and high in protein (from kidney beans) as well loads of
vegetables to ensure kids are meeting their daily nutrient requirements - for this
reason beans are often called a vegetarian “meat”.
Ingredients 2 tablespoon olive oil 1 onion, peeled and chopped
2 garlic cloves, peeled and minced 1/2 cup chopped carrot
1/2 cup chopped celery 1/2 cup chopped red capsicum

WANT TO GET RID OF YOUR PLASTIC GROCERY BAGS??? Do you have lots of plastic grocery bags taking up valuable storage space in your home? A member of our school community is collecting plastic grocery bags to make sleeping mats for the homeless. If you have excess plastic grocery bags (I’m sure many of us do) they can be brought to the school office for collection to make more sleeping mats. Not only are we providing a soft place for a homeless person to sleep—we are also recycling those unwanted plastic grocery bags!!
