Grant Project KEY CLUB PLEDGE

Don't know the Key Club

pledge? No worries.

Just follow along below:

I pledge, on my honor, to

up-

hold the objects of Key

Club

International; to build my home, school and

community;

to serve my nation and

God; and to combat all

forces

which tend to undermine

these institutions.

KEY CLUB MISSION

Key Club is an

international

student-led organization

which

provides its members

with

opportunities to provide

service, build character

and develop leadership.

The Omak Key Club just

completed a Grant Project

offered by State Farm to

discourage underage drinking.

In order to earn the US$500

grant, they created a power

point and presented it to the

Omak Kiwanis Club, and the

Omak High School. 100 Omak

High School students signed a

giant pledge card to not use

alcohol and other drugs. The

project also included a rap

performed at Omak Kiwanis

and a poster campaign to

raise community awareness of

underage drinking and its

consequences.

KCCP Walkathon

During the Division Nine Kiwanis Divisional Council Meeting on April 13th, Division Nine

Kiwanis, Key Club, Builders Club, and Aktion Club participated in a walkathon for Kiwanis

Children’s Cancer Program. This was hosted at the Liberty Bell High School. The walkathon

was originally created by Key Clubber Kameron Smith, who graduated from Liberty Bell.

Members who participated in the walkathon received pledges from sponsors to donate to

this charity. This is one of many KCCP fundraiser that the Division Nine K-Family is a part

of.

Eliminate Week

The Okanogan Key Club donated all revenue from their daily ice cream sales to the

Eliminate Project for Eliminate Week. Omak Key Club members wore blue, changed their

Facebook profile picture to them as a baby, and promoted the publication of the Eliminate

Project. The Liberty Bell Key Club administered a miracle minute through their entire high

school.

Service in the City

2014 District Convention

PNW Key Club has outgrown the Doubletree

Hotel. The next DCON will be held at the Seattle

Convention Center in downtown Seattle, WA.

We will be staying at the Sheraton Hotel.

Convention will be on April 3-6 2014.

The District Board decided that the theme

for this years’ DCON will be Service in the

City because we will be in the heart of

Seatt le for the first t ime. We will be

combining Sleepless in Seatt le and a city

theme with service.

At DCON, we will have forums, a keynote

speaker, workshops, spirit contests, banquets,

the Governors Ball, and much, much more!

See you there! “65th annual it’s going to be

insane!”

District Project 2014

Eliminate Project

Governor Trang Tran announced at Spring Board that the

2013-2014 PNW District Project will be the same as the

International Project, Eliminate Project. This is a joint

effort between UNICEF and Kiwanis International to

eliminate maternal and neonatal tetanus. We plan to rid the

world of MNT by 2015. In order to accomplish this, we

need to raise US$110 million. We are currently on track to

eliminate the disease; however, we still have 30 more

countries left to eradicate the disease. Eliminate Project

needs more attention. This is why Governor Trang chose

this project. Our goal is to raise US$24,000.00 by the end

of the year. While this is a considerable amount of money,

the PNW contains more than 12,000 members. If each

member donates at least US$2.00 we will meet our goal.

Help us change the world, one life at a time.

Okanogan Key Club hosted

this year’s Officer Installation

Ceremony. The ceremony

takes place annually to retire

the outgoing officers, and

induct the incoming officers.

We had 75% representation

for all the clubs in Div ision 9.

In attendance were Key

Clubbers, parent guests,

sponsoring Kiwanis clubs,

Area Administrator Roy

Reiber, and the 2013-2014

Lieutenant Governor of

Div ision Nine Kiwanis.

Div ision 9 also had the honor of

introducing Hakikat Bains,

Immediate Past Lieutenant

Governor of Division 9, as the

PNW District Secretary of Key

Club International. We are

proud Narwhals!

Good news, neither the

Okanogan Key Club bell nor

gavel was stolen. However,

the banner was in temporary

jeopardy.

May DCM

Service Leadership

This month’s DCM will be held during the Relay for

Life on May 17th-18th. Division 9 Key Club has a

team in which Liberty Bell, Omak, and Okanogan

Key Clubs will participate in. We will eat dinner,

play games, walk for cancer, and spend the night

at the Okanogan Track. In the morning, the

Kiwanis club will serve all Relay for Life teams

delicious pancakes. See you there!

Key Club turns 88 on May 7th.

Key Club has been helping the

world become a better place for

almost a century. Show off your

Key Club spirit by volunteering in

your community to help us

celebrate this momentous

occasion.

Service leadership is the model of the Key Club

Hierarchy. The members are the most

important. They are the ones who make the final

decisions for our division. They create projects

and define service. Club officers, District Board

Members, and International Officers all must

answer to the club members.
