Though there was a slight decrease in their business prospects,

Manufacturing companies were still very optimistic (or hopeful) about business trends in the following month.

The PMI shows an increase for the services in the given by the retailers and wholesalers compared to the results of last month’s survey.

The inventories have shown to expand in May. However, overall PMI measure still indicate a recession status.

Looking at the differences between the retailers and wholesalers, it can be seen that Retailers are expanding on EMPLOYMENT while Wholesalers expand on INVENTORIES. Overall, the retailers have slightly higher diffusion index than the wholesalers.

Both Retailers and Wholesalers were expecting an Business expansion for the month of June.
