BIOGRAPHIES OF THE YOUTHFUL ORCHESTRA

Ms Singer (founder & lead-singer) Ms Singer is the founder, energetic lead-singer of “Berlin’s 1st

Swing-Fusion Orchestra”. After several

appearances both on stage including Thalia Theater Hamburg as well as TV where she acted in feature-films and series such as “Dr Vogt”, “Die

Schule am See” and “Saint Tropez” she studied acting, musical-theater and singing at the Herbert Berghof Studio and Bova Actorsworkshop in

NYC. Her singing teachers included: Kimberly Vuaghn, Mary A. Kaufmann as well as Karin Ploog. In Hamburg she was one of the lead-singers of

the former vocal-trio “The Swing S’Sters” before she found “Ms Singer’s Swingers” in the beginning of 2014.

Benjamin Pontius (musical direction, arrangements & piano) Benjamin Pontius began his musical studies with a teaching-major at the HfM

Würzburg, after he majored in conducting at the HfM Dresden in 2013. Ever since he has been a Berlin based freelance conductor, arranger

and composer. His Focus lies on composition as well as producing music both for motion-pictures and the media.

Mika the Elephant (drums) Mika’s drum-instructors included: Drum Trainer Berlin, Andi Bühler, Dirk Erchinger, Randy Black, Felix Lehrmann,

Stefan Genze, Christian Vinne, the „Onkel“ and Stephan Emig. He already played drums for the pop singer Felice, the Local Heroes Band

”Lines'n'Notes”. With live-drums he created his own electronic-project in addition he held workshops for Ableton live at the UdK Berlin as well

as for drums at RubyTuesday drum workshops. Currently he is recording a solo album as well as another one with 'Jeal' Gilles Toussaint, is

playing drums for Lean Bravo, touring with Kalina Morcuende and working together with Closing Chapters.

Valentin David (e-bass & guest-vocals) Of French origin Valentin David studied classic guitar in France. There he already played guitar and e-

bass in several jazz band-formations. As a singer and songwriter he gave numerous concerts with his own French chanson band „Lemons In A

Rush“. Today his focus lies on playing e-bass as well as singing jazz-, soul- and blues.

Matthäus Jähnel (guitar) Matthäus Jähnel graduated at the Munich Guitar Institute (MGI) as well as the music conservatory Mozarteum

Salzburg with a major in jazz, pop and arrangement. Being a live – as well as studioguitar player he already engaged in numerous productions:

musicals such as "Hairspray", big bands such as "Big Band Universität Potsdam", cover-bands like "Blind Trust", several jazz-formations,

motion-picture recordings as well as being engaged as sideman for pop - and rock-bands. In addition he is also teaching in Germany as well as

internationally.

Alexander Gibson (trumpet ) Alexander Gibson began playing the trumpet at the age of ten. 2010 he became a member of the

Landesjugendjazzorchester Schleswig-Holstein, where he played with Nils Landgren at the Jazz Baltica. At the Jazzinstitut in Berlin he studied

with Gerard Presencer. There he was enrolled in classes with jazz legends such as David Friedman, Kurt Rosenwinkel und Peter Weniger. He’s

been playing in numerous bands such as the Berlin Big Band as well as the Composers Orchestra Berlin.

Martin Willy (tenor-sax) Born and raised in Berlin Martin Willy already engaged as tenor-sax player within the TV-show “RIAS Danceorchester”

on the channel ZDF at age four-teen. He was recipient of a scholarship at the Loius Pradé Stiftung, received singing-lessons with Eddy Rhein

und played with American musicians such as: A. M' Boup, House, EBM, und Acid. Also, he played within the Dj’s. 2002 Show „denk mal

Marlene“ for the Goethe Institute Brazil . For twelve years São Paulo became his home where he played for numerous hotels and jazz clubs,

concerts as well as live PA for Bacardi B-Live.

Electronics Guest Star „Ioka“, aka Jakob Gille (electronic-percussions & electro-swing DJing) Jakob Gille majored in composition at the HfM

in Dresden ever since he is producing electronic-music for many different genres. Also he works in mixing and mastering music, teaches

composing, engages in electro-swing DJing and plays his own music on a self-build electronic-percussion instrument as electronic performer

„Ioka“.
