President’s words . . . My last official meeting as president was a blast! Not only did we manage to fill our ballot for the next set of officers, but Joy Nord gave an imaginative and informative presentation. I think we all learned a thing or two, and it was entertaining, too. Thank you for making my two years as Prez so much fun. You've been a great audience for my jokes, and I'll miss the chance to perform once a month. I'm passing that ticket to President Paul, a fun guy in his own right. I'm looking forward to staying in touch, though, not to mention yelling at you, in my new role as newsletter editor. It will nev-er be the literary chef d'oeuvre Carol Menchu produced over the past decade, but I'll do my best. Anybody else think it's weird my longest Words from the President is my last? Thanks for the fun.

Invitation Come join me, help me decorate the tree With tinsel, garlands, ornaments, and lights— The fire’s lit, we’ll talk companionably, For days are cold, and colder are the nights. Come join me now, together let us sing A Christmas song expressing joyful mirth— We’ll make the decorated rafters ring To contradict the silence of the earth. Come join me here and rest yourself awhile— My heart is overjoyed to have you near. I touch your hand, bask in your warming smile, Which mantles me against the aging year. Come join me, help me decorate the tree Together we’ll create a memory

Are there ‘goodbyes’ that aren’t goodbyes when Swan Songs are sung ?
Does it matter ? Not really.
So, while I sing this Swan Song don’t mourn too long if so inclined to do . . .
The new do take over the old and The old will remember for awhile But soon the new will not know what was And forge a future there To, thus, begin their own
Swan Song . . . . It’s been a blast for the last 10 +/- years and thanks to ALL of you who shared your words and ideas to help make The Gabriel Writer a success. Without you it would have been nothing. See you at the Christmas party — and REMEMBER TO PAY YOUR DUES — SGWL needs all of you !!!

Here is a Warm Fuzzy to celebrate the season
Remember the wonderful movie A Christmas Story? Well . . . Oh, yes, if you don’t then rent/buy it/see it . . . .
Christmas is approaching and 9 year-old Ralphie wants only one thing: a Red Ryder Range Shot 200 BB gun.
When he mentions it at the dinner table, his mother's immediate reaction is that he'll put his eye out but Ralphie fantasizes about what it would be like to be Red Ryder and catch the bad guys.
When the big day arrives he gets lots of pre-sents under the tree including a lovely gift from his aunt that his mother just adores. But what Here is the house in the closing scene of the film. about the BB gun ? ? ? ?
Here is the family that lived there . . . Mrs Parker played by Melinda Dillon
Mr. Parker played by Darren McGavin Randy played by Ian Petrella
Ralphie (with glasses) played by Peter Billingsley A Christmas Story House, is now restored to its movie splen-dor and is open year round to the public to tour. Directly across the street from the house is the official A Christmas Story House Museum, which features original props, cos-
tumes and memorabilia from the film, as well as hundreds of rare behind-the-scenes pho-tos. Among the props and costumes are the toys from the Higbee’s window, Randy’s snowsuit, the chalkboard from Miss Shields’ classroom and the family car.
If you’ve seen it — see it again . . . If you haven’t — do
