Connect the projector’sAC power cord into anACoutlet.ThePOWERindicatorlightsred. Openthelenscap(seepages10,60).
Press thePOWERON/SYAND-BYbutton on the topcontrolorontheremotecontrol.ThePOWERindicatorlightsgreenandthecoolingfansstart tooperate.Thepreparation display appears on the screen and thecountdownstarts.

Enter a PIN codeUse thePoint▲▼buttons to enter a number. Press thePoint►button to fix thenumber andmove the red framepointertothenextbox.Thenumberchangesto“.”Ifyoufixedan incorrectnumber,use thePoint◄button tomovethe pointer to the number youwant to correct, and thenenterthecorrectnumber.
After entering the four-digit number,move the pointer to“Set.” Press theSELECT button so that you can start tooperatetheprojector.
If you entered an incorrectPIN code, “PIN code” and thenumber () will turn red for amoment. Enter thecorrectPINcodealloveragain.
CAUTION ON HANDLING PIN CODEIfyouforgetyourPINcode,theprojectorcannolongerbestarted.Takeaspecial care in settinga newPIN code; write down the number in acolumn on page 76 of thismanual and keep itat hand. Should the PINcode bemissing orforgotten,consultyourdealerorservicecenter.
•IfthePINcodenumberisnotenteredwithinthreeminutesafterthePINcodedialogboxappeared, the projector will be turned offautomatically.
•The “1234” issetas the initialPINcodeatthefactory.

Turning Off the ProjectorPress thePOWERON/STAND-BYbutton on the topcontrol or on the remote control, and “Power off?”appearsonthescreen.
PressthePOWERON/STAND-BYbuttonagaintoturnoff theprojector.ThePOWER indicator starts toblinkred,andthecoolingfanskeeprunning.(Youcanselectthe level of fans’ quietnessand speed.See “Fan” onpage56.)At this time, you canunplug theACpowercordevenifthefansarestillrunning.

� When the projector has cooled down enough, thePOWER indicator stopsblinkingand you can turn ontheprojector.
Notes: •WhentheOnstartfunctionissetto“On,”theprojectorwillbe turned on automatically by connecting theAC powercordtoanACoutlet(p.53).
•While thePOWER indicator is blinking, the lamp is beingcooleddownand theprojector cannot be turnedon.Waituntil the POWER indicator stops blinking to turn on theprojectoragain.

Filterspreventsdustfromaccumulatingontheopticalelementsinsidetheprojector.Shouldthefiltersbecomecloggedwith dust particles, itwill reduce cooling fans’ effectiveness andmay result in internal heat buildupandadverselyaffect the lifeof theprojector. Ifa “Filterwarning” iconappearson thescreen,clean the filtersimmediately.Cleanthefilterbyfollowingthestepsbelow.
Gently clean the filters by using a brush or rinse itsoftly.�When rinsing the filters, dry theywell. Replace thefilters properly. Make sure that the filters are fullyinsertedtotheprojector.

CAUTIONDo not operate the projector with the filtersremoved. Dust may accumulate on the opticalelementsdegradingpicturequality.Do not put anything into the air vents.Doing somayresultinmalfunctionoftheprojector.
