P ILING'
All piling shall be HP12X53 ste e l bearing piles.
All HP12X53 piling shall have a maximum desi gn load of 70 to ns.
Pi ling shall be driven t o refusal i nto t he f oundatlon strata as indicated by the e stimated pile lengths, or the pile tip elevations . Refusal is defined as the equivalent of 20 blows for one inch or less of penetra tion with a p ower hammer developing a minim um capacity of 15,000 foot pounds of energy per blow. If a large r hammer is used, the number of blows in the last inch of penetration may be reduced in direct proportio n to the energy rati ng of th e hammer , but to no less than 12.
Before pile driving is beg un, the contractor shall p rovide a written certification to the Engineer that the pil e drivers, air compressors, and air valves have been i nspected and f ound to be in good working condition.
New stock mater i al may be used f or steel bearing pile s p rovided t hat ea c h piece can b e ide n tif ied by heat n umber and provided that certified mill test reports are furni shed to th e Department's inspe ctor indicating th at th e material conforms t o the specifications .
T he minimum le ngth of i nstalled piling shall be 10.0 f eet.
Payment for driven piling shall be included in Item 616-4 (HP12 X 53 ), steel Bearing Piles, Driven.
DI SMANTL ING STR UCTU RES:
Th e supe~structure and su bstruc ture of the existing structure shall be re moved in its e nti rety.
Material fr om the disman t led structure shall become t he p roperty of the Contractor and shall be re moved fr om th e right of way .
Ground lines, final slopes and slop e dressing shall be as directed by the Engineer .
