Background Information

Shortz has been writing his own songs in his album called “Itz Da Beez N Da Birdz”. He is 18 years old and the genre of his music is mainly grime/rap.

Target AudienceThe target audience of Shortz will mainly be teenagers and young adults aged from 13-20. This is because the genre of his music is grime. Most of his lyrics involve language (slang) used by teenagers so only they are able to understand what he really is rapping about. Another target audience are people who like to party and rave this is because most of his songs have an upbeat rhythm. His song “Birds & The Bees” portrays an image that girls nowadays are very easy, this means that his target audience may be mostly males. This links in with Mulveys theory “Male Gaze” as it is mainly aimed for the males audience.

Most grime/rap artists have tattoos however Shortz will be challenging this stereotype as his image will be more mysterious as this will shock the audience and people will want to find out more about him.

Although most rap/grime artists go for the “gangster” baggy clothes ,Shortz will challenge this stereotype. His costume will be smart wear as this makes him stand out from the crowd and it will make people take him more seriously although he is only 18.

In most videos expensive cars are used as props to show the possessions that they own. This music video will reinforce this stereotype however the artist himself will not be driving it.
