Poor planning causes some managers to underestimate the scope of IT projects

Fail to consider that the project may take longer than expected and cost more than budgeted.

Decision has to be made whether to acquire new applications or upgrade the existing one.

Cost – Acquisition and development cost – hw, sw, project team salary. Consultant fees

Implementation cost – conversion, training

Operating cost – maintenance, upgrades, training
