VOLUME 16 : ISSUE 7 July 2012
Made to Make a Difference On July 16 our group of youth and
adults leave for New Orleans. First we fly to Memphis, TN where we
will join up with 180 others from Eastern North Dakota. In Mem-phis
we will pack 10,000 meals for the hungry. On July 17 we will drive
to New Orleans. The Gathering starts on July 18 and goes till July
22. On Thursday we will be doing a service project involving
Literacy. Friday will be spent in worship and small groups as a
synod practicing discipleship. Saturday will be spent doing hands
on learning and exploration of faith and life. On Sunday the
Gathering ends with wor-ship in the morning. The Sunday morning
worship service will be broadcast live on the internet, so we hope
to have a TV set up during the coffee hour at St. Olaf, so people
can watch if they want to. After worship we will drive back to
Memphis and fly home on Monday, July 23.
We want to thank you for all your support and we ask for your
prayers as we travel. We are looking forward to sharing our
experiences with you when we get home!
Sojourners Our annual week of camp at our Retreat Center will be
August 6-9. This camp is for youth who are going into 4th-7th
grade. Registration deadline is August 1.
A weekly lunch, Bible & walking group for all ages.
All summer long in Ruger Park at noon on Mondays.
You can walk, jog, run or ride your bike as long or as short as you want. If it rains we will have lunch and walk inside at Lake Region State College. Bring your own lunch and meet us at the picnic shelter in Ruger Park after we eat and have a short devotional reading and prayer we will walk. You set your own pace and length of walk. Present: Kim Hatten, LaMae Bergan and Patricia Berggren. The
committee discussed having speakers pre-sent information about
topics and programs of interest during coffee hour between

would be October, Janu-ary and April, with a different speaker one
Sunday of each of these months. Scam-ming, swing-bed, hospice and
Thrivent were some of the topics generated. The committee will work
more on this at the August 2012 meeting. In exploring other ideas
for outreach and evangelism, a sug-gestion was made that we have a
school supply drive to help provide school supplies to elementary
and middle school children. Kim will obtain the elementary and
middle school lists from the schools to give to Darci, who can
publish them in the July Spire. Since we decided not to meet in
July, our next meeting will be held on Au-gust 12, 2012 at 10:00

year. We will be looking for someone willing to take it after that.
We will have special meeting on the plans for the sing-a-long for
the 125th anniversary. Janice will talk to Lynda & Russ and get
one set up. Jamie came in with graphic results on a survey of
worship patterns and attendance on the congrega-tion. We need to
find a pastor for July 1st. Jamie will have the July 8th service.
