Matt Maze was looking for a change of pace, a new challenge. Little did he know when he walked in to PK

U.S.A. seven years ago, his life and his occupation would change dramatically.

After graduating from Columbus North High School, Matt went on to the University of Indianapolis where he obtained a degree in Entrepreneurship with a minor in IT. “I had a tough time finding a job when I graduated. When CCG in Columbus, Indiana offered me a position, I grabbed it as quickly as I could. My job there was always different everyday. I learned to be flexible very quick during my time at CCG. When they closed up, I began work at MA Metals in Edinburgh, Indiana. I worked in Quality and Engineering and learned a lot about fabrication. It was a good place for me to understand the complete processes of manufacturing”.

Although Matt enjoyed his work, along with the people at MA Metals, he knew it was time to look for other opportunities. “When

a position at PK U.S.A. popped up, I determined it was good timing for a change. I worked in a few different departments before I came in to project engineering. I started in the wastewater department first, then moved on to engineering later. Today, I am a Senior Project Engineer and I love what I do. In hindsight, I would have gotten my college degree in engineering, but fortunately PK has provided opportunities for me to learn through on-the-job training, it has been a big challenge, but the payoff has been immeasurable. The biggest challenge I have encountered during my time as Senior Project Engineer has been learning to manage multiple projects in multiple phases. I believe multi-tasking is a skill that I have learned, and learned well at PK. Everyone here is so helpful, not just the engineers, but those on the floor who have helped me along the way. No one knows their machine and how it works more than those who use and work with them everyday, so I have come to rely on their expertise. We are all working together to achieve an end goal - seeing it to fruition is the key”.

In Matt’s off time, he enjoys time with his family. “I love playing with my kids. The best thing I can do is be the best father to my kids, and the best husband to my wife. Part of that responsibility includes doing my best while I am at work to ensure I provide for them. We purchased a ‘fixer-upper’ house several years ago, and we have learned how to repair things on our ‘to-do’ list by goggling how to videos and reading articles. It has been a lot of fun. I enjoy doing hands-on work and seeing a job done well”.

Those ideals not only serve Matt well at home, but at PK too. “An integral part of my job at PK includes being hands on with projects. Part of our responsibility is to understand projects from early stages to mass production. We must estimate properly, understand tooling costs, implement design studies, appreciate manufacturing techniques and put these all together to complete the entire process so customers are pleased and our associates can do their job effectively and safely”.

In the future, Matt hopes to continue learning, designing and helping everyone through production processes. “In our ever-changing production and manufacturing processes, I have learned flexibility is key, along with good listening. As long as we remain open to understanding our customers needs, while maintaining our high quality production, PK U.S.A. will remain at the top of being a fabrication company auto manufacturers can count on”.

Ford Motor CompanySelects PK U.S.A. to

Produce Bronco Axles

PK U.S.A. is proud to announce that Ford Motor Company has selected our company to produce axles for the reintroduction of the Ford Bronco line. This product line is already highly anticipated in the automotive world, and we are gearing up to help Ford ensure the Bronco is ready for roll-out.

Ben Lyne is the Axle Line Supervisor on first shift, and briefly explains the processes to ensure PK U.S.A. is ready for full production in November of 2020. “We have processes for full implementation complete, now we are working on all of the new equipment required to produce 150,000 axles in the first year of production. Our current schedule includes receiving all of the new machinery in February of 2020. Installation of all equipment will be complete in June of 2020, with production at full capacity by November. We are producing the rear axle for the Bronco, and this manufacturing process requires a slate of new friction welders, arc welders and specialized stamping machinery. As we have worked through processes, we discovered the axle component is 40 lbs. total when complete, so we had to add some additional machining so associates do not handle the part too much, as it is ergonomically too heavy for an individual to handle on a repetitive basis.

PK U.S.A. will keep all of you updated on the Ford Bronco axle line, as the Nissan axle line is phased out at the end of this year.

Thank you to all of our PK team, your hard work and perseverance ensured this contract was awarded to our facilities in Shelbyville.

It is well known that if PK’s associates continue to choose poor health-related behaviors, those behaviors can result in one or more chronic diseases, such as arthritis in your knees and hips, cancer, heart disease, and diabetes. Medical costs from your copays and insurance for the treatment of the chronic diseases are expensive. It is less expensive to make small changes to prevent chronic diseases or to prevent a disease from becoming worse.

The goals of PK’s Wellness Program are to help you be the best health-related manager that you can be. RNs work with you to make small changes over time to promote your wellness and help you prevent chronic diseases. You are not required to make the changes. But ask yourself: “Why would I want to continue to do something that is most likely going to make me sick?”

Below are just a very few examples of the PK associates who have made significant changes to be better managers of their health. The results are amazing. CONGRATULATIONS!

At PK Shelbyville: • An associate at PK Shelbyville lost over 100 pounds in one year! How did the associate do it? By “eating right and walking almost every day”. Congratulations! Changing habits and adding new ones are not easy. But this associate became a health-related manager and not only lost weight but worked with the medical provider to bring down the blood pressure to normal range! • 4 associates lost at least 5% of their body weight within the year without any medication; three lost 30 pounds, one lost over 10 pounds. • 1 associate with high blood sugars stopped drinking soda pop and started eating healthier; as a result, the associate did not have to start diabetes medications. Of the approximately 50 associates at Mississippi, over one-third chose to give up some health habits that could lead to a disease and try healthier behaviors. Some examples: • 11 associates lost a total of 135 pounds, • 8 associates changed their eating and activity levels and some sought medical care to decrease their elevated blood pressures to within normal range. Most were not aware that their blood pressures were high until the RNs tracked their blood pressures during more than one appointment.

At PK Tennessee examples of good outcomes from becoming a healthy manager include: • 3 associates with elevated blood pressures changed their eating habits and increased their activity so that their blood pressures were within normal range without having to take medications. • 4 associates changed their eating habits and lowered their elevated cholesterol to normal levels without medications.

The above are just a few of the many examples to demonstrate that each of you are managers of your health. You can choose health, or you can choose sickness. If you don’t have time to learn healthy behaviors, will you have time to be sick? The Registered Nurses are available to you to help you become healthy managers.

Below are the clinic times for each PK site. If you do not have an appointment, call the office at 812-378-0615 or go to the website www.clinicalsolutions-llc.com/contact-us.
