The Pittsburgh Promise Day of Service was a tremendous success thanks to the hard work of volunteers. Hundreds of Promise ready students and current Promise recipients rallied together in projects across Pittsburgh to make a difference in their communities! During the Pittsburgh Promise Day of Service there was huge sense of community across the board for volunteers. Student volunteers participated in a variety of projects impacting many different social issues including hunger, environment, education, community cleanliness, healthcare, and more. Not only were volunteers educated about these social issues, but they also engaged in hands-on meaningful service that impacted many. Volunteers also had the opportunity to reflect on their service and how as young people they are difference makers. The Youth Engaged in Service (YES) program at Pittsburgh Cares teamed up with The Pittsburgh Promise to organize service activities for the young leaders. The day was designed to have youth develop and practice leadership skills as a decision maker, role model, advocate and volunteer. Pittsburgh Cares in partnership with The Pittsburgh Promise lead over 700 volunteers in 22 different projects. Pittsburgh Promise students and staff joined together to invest in the community that is investing in them.

I don’t think that we could have asked for a better two days in regards to youth engagement, the weather, projects, teacher participation, and your support!
