The whole is “defined” by the self-entanglement and reciprocal constraints that the agents impose on each other. The ways they probabilistically shape each other's’ possibilities for change. Nothing magical or mysterious is added here to make it unpredictable, yet you could individually replace each thread and still have the same uncertain level.
