Contrast Lens: A revolutionary gradient lens coating that provides a superior alternative to the standard clear lens. The Contrast lens enhances visual acuity while blocking 30% of blue light waves that are harmful to your eyes. The result is sharper, clearer images and less eye strain and fatigue. Choose the Contrast lens over a clear lens in every instance for protection from the harmful effects of exposure to neon lights, computer screens and other forms of light pollution. Additionally, Bollé Safety’s unique UV absorbers and flash treatment eliminates overheating of the cornea, a source of conjunctivitis, and may assist in reversing the aging process of the crystalline lens, a source of cataracts. This lens filters 99.99% UVA, UVB up to 400 nm and 30% blue and infrared light.

HD Lens: A unique lens treatment resulting in exceptional clarity and superior light transmission. The HD coating may be used for every type of job except those requiring solar protection for industrial use. Bollé Safety’s HD lens delivers 96% visible light transmission. The hydrophobic coating and HD technology join together to form a waterproof polymer barrier against water droplets.

esP Lens: ESP (Extra Sensory Perception) is an innovative coating that enhances the ability to see detail and improve contrast without distorting colors by reducing glare, eye strain and the harmful effects of blue light. ESP filters 57% of blue light while delivering 64% visible light transmission and 99.99% UVA/UVB protection.

PoLarizeD Lens: Light can bounce and reflect off a myriad of surfaces, such as water, snow and the road. Bollé Safety polarizing technology removes the glare and the stress it causes to your eyes. The lenses block 99.99% of UVA/UVB rays, protection that goes well beyond government and commercial standards.

twiLigHt Lens: Built on the successful platform of Bollé Safety’s ESP coating system, Twilight technology offers the added benefit of anti-fog coating on both sides of the lens to prevent fogging in the most challenging conditions. The high contrast, high definition and excellent light transmission are ideal for low light, outdoor work environments, particularly when used in early morning and late evening. This is a very white light which produces high lumens and good color rendition, but has high lumen depreciation. Fluorescent lighting is very cost effective, reduces energy consumption, and maintains high lumen levels over the course of three to five years. The down side is fluorescent lamps cause high glare levels and high levels of stray blue light. The light fixtures used for these lamps are rarely shaded and thus cause headaches and eye fatigue. The ideal safety glasses for comfort would relieve the pressure from above the ear and better distribute the fit over a larger area behind the head. The special temple arm design on DirectFlex was designed specifically to create this greater comfort.

What does the term “base curve” refer to?

Base curve is the curvature of the outer portion of the lens. The steeper the curve, the better chance of having the lens wrap around to the temporal portion of the face. So the higher the base curve, the more side protection you’ll have.

coating on the top portion of the lens.

This tint reduces glare from overhead

fluorescent lighting and other light

sources… which helps to minimize

squinting, reduces eye strain and increases

productivity. While gradient tint lenses

provide protection from overhead light,

the light around the primary work station

is not seriously affected. As a result,

noticeable when working at a computer screen

or driving at night. Glare reduction means that

workers wearing AR lenses often find that their

eyes are less tired during the work day. Our

Anti-Reflective coating is deposited on both the

front and back surfaces of the lens. This process

will allow 96% of visible light to pass through

the lens versus 90% to 92% for a standard

clear polycarbonate lens. This increased light

transmission allows workers to see more clearly

at their work station. The Anti-Reflective coating

is also water repellant, meaning the lenses will

become visibly clearer after normal cleaning.

lens has a light yellow tint that is built right

PoLarizeD Glare is caused by scattered light. It can be

magnified by reflecting off flat surfaces such

as water, pavement and snow. A polarized

lens works much like a venetian blind… it

only allows light to enter at a certain angle.

Reflected light from smooth surfaces is

usually horizontally polarized. Therefore,

polarized lenses use a vertically oriented

polarizing filter to block the scattered

horizontal light from entering the lens from

all but one angle. Our Polarized filter lens is

also injection molded to provide a smooth

This is the opposite of what an

Anti-Reflective (AR) treatment is trying

to accomplish. Adding a mirror

coating to the front of a lens will “deflect”

a significant amount of sunlight away from

the wearers’ eyes… reducing glare 10%

to 15% more than a tinted lens can alone.

Using an Anti-Reflective treatment on the

backside of a mirrored lens will make the
